Jeter deserves being in the Hall of Fame and so does Omar, for different reasons. Visquel is #9 all-time in Defensive WAR, all positions. Won 11 gold gloves, Jeter 5. He wasn't all glove either like #2, Mark Belanger. Visquel finished with 2877 hits in his career. Jeter didn't make the top 1000 and neither did Don Mattingly and his 9 Gold Gloves. That is where NY bias comes in for the win.CAA Flagship wrote:Oh stop already. Vizquel batted .272. Jeter batted .308. That's a significant difference.dbackjon wrote:
Too high.
If he wasn't a Yankee he'd likely get in first ballot, but around 80%. Similarly, the Best SS ever to play the game - Omar Vizquel - if he was a Yankee he'd be in the hall already.
Jeter was a negative value SS.
Jeter also batted over .300 in the postseason. And that's not from a small sample size. It was the equivalent of a full season.
