BOSTON -- In the midst of a pregame ceremony honoring the Stanley Cup champion Boston Bruins, the Red Sox distributed a press release Sunday announcing that pitcher Clay Buchholz had been placed on the 15-day disabled list with what the team is calling a lower back strain.

Also, I believe they said tonight was the 13th time this season the Sox sent an opposing starter packing before 3 innings... the next highest mark is 6 times by Philly and the Yanks.

Milwaukee is a really good team this year. If they can get into the playoffs they will be a very dangerous team, with the power hitting they have and the front end starting pitching.

Since 1996 39 teams have won atleast 44 of their first 72, games as Boston and Philadelphia have this season, of those 39 teams, 34 or 87% have made the playoffs.

Since April 16th the Red Sox are 42-18 thats a .700 winning percent.... thats a pretty damn impressive hot streak... perhaps its not a hot streak.... maybe its just reality.

Since April 16 Boston is 6.5 games better than New York and 6 games better than Philadelphia.

You have a 1.5 game lead after a streak like that. And we always own you after the All Star break. :coffee:

they took 2 of 3 from the yankees I think the 2nd week of the season so that helped them.

Red Sox are very fortunate that they miss Hamels and Halladay when they play the Phillies.
