So, let's pretend that Mexico actually lost to South Africa. Will the cartels pretty much just wack their families before they get back?

You have to think Mexico is one of the more motivated teams in the tournament.

Actually, they'll probably be fed to the lions on the safari no matter what happens, so it doesn't really matter.

I'm being totally serious. This Mexico team looks like the most motivated team I've seen since the Iraqi squads of the mid-90s. They are playing like their lives depend on it.

That's because SA has no business being in this tourney, except that they received an autobid for hosting. Mexico would destroy them in any other match, but the fact that it is at home and this is the opening match for the WC gives SA a huge emotional and mental advantage. So Mexico has to find that extra something, besides more talent and a better team, to win.

Additionally, you're only guaranteed 3 matches here. So if you aren't going to play 100%, then you can just go the f*ck home.

That is 100 times worse than the Joyce call. Disappointing them can blow a call like that.

Hey! What's that asterisk for? That's another weird soccer thing, isn't it?

I was watching in espanol. I saw Mexico scored and it was wiped off. I guess it was a blown call?

The ref called "offsides" when Mexico clearly wasn't. South Africa had a man on the goal line, the only way Mexico would have been offsides would have been if they were out of bounds.

If you were a little tanner it could be a good match.

South Africa just scored a nice goal. Although, it should be 1-1, not 0-1.

Well, not a bad opening match, all things considered. Now let's hope Uruguay puts a beat down on the frogs.

:thumb: I think Uruguay is going to surprise some people.

And if I were Domenech and I already knew I was going to be let go after the World Cup, I would totally sabotage the team by sitting Henry, Ribery, Anelka, Evra, Diabby, Diarry and Malouda and only playing the reserves. Seriously Domenech, you should do that!

Keeper was off his line - gotta have 2 defenders between you and the goal - that's why it was (correctly) called off-sides...
