The black athlete is superior because of the master's breeding. Have you seen the giant thighs and the quick twitch on those Boateng's?!?!!

Oh man. I miss Jimmy the Greek. It's always nice to have a drunken analyst on live TV.

Just turned on Swiss-Arg game to see clock at 105+ minutes.
Blood pressure now quickly rising. How much fucking time is left? How much stoppage time is included in that time? God this is the worst clock system in the history of the world.

And is this sudden death or do you play out the clock?

They play forever. Then there's an overtime that is half of forever. And then once forever and a half is over, they do penalty kicks, which totally cheapens the game.

This is no NHL way to settle a score in a playoff game, but it's what they do.

So after 90 minutes they add stoppage time. Then they rewind the clock back to 90 to begin extra time. And then add stoppage time at the end of extra time but will allow as much time as you want for a free kick.

I am the guy that "soccer" should be trying to win over. I am a sports fan, have money, and have 2 young boys. But "Soccer" refuses to make the game easier to understand in favor of some sort of archaic tradition that only avid fans accept. "Soccer" is telling me that they don't want to lure American sports fans. That they are just fine on their own. That it is OK to stick with baseball, football, basketball, hockey, NASCAR, golf, and the X-games.

I am fascinated with business decisions, both good and bad. This is like watching Miller spend 20 years of poor advertising while Bud Light kicked their ass. Like seeing how poorly built US cars held up against better built Jap and German cars. Like watching Coke introduce a different formulated Coke rather than a new and separate version. You get the idea. Poor decisions at the conference table can limit the success of the product. Soccer can be so much more popular in America with a few tweaks. But no......

What are they making difficult?

The clock not counting backwards?
Stoppage time?

You know each half has 45 minutes, why does it matter if the clock counts up to 45 or down from 45? Are you that slow mentally that you can't look at a clock that reads 22:00 and know that there are 23:00 left in regulation time in the half?

Is it that hard to understand that, on average, each half will have 3-4 minutes of stoppage time? Occasionally it's more, occasionally it's less.

It's not hard to understand.

Then don't complain when MLS folds, or is still treated as the 10th most popular sport in America.

I can get the upwards counting clock. I can understand stoppage time (it's stupid they way they do it, and if soccer fans weren't so uppity and stubborn they would admit that as well). What gets me is that no one knows EXACTLY how much stoppage time there is, and when it ends, and how arbitrary the addition of it is...

Eh. I'm not an MLS fan. But, not because the clock counts upward or because of stoppage time. The quality of the soccer just isn't that great. Maybe that changes... who knows?

But, again. Noone gives a shit if a bunch of old dudes don't like it.

Soccer isn't going to grow in this country by appealing to the "old crotchety man" demographic. It will expand by appealing to the 18-35 bracket. And, soccer is growing very very well in that age group... whether y'all like it or not.

They aren't counting on winning the NASCAR fans like BDK over.

Pay attention. In the knockout round there is extra over time. This is different from group sex play. But how many periods is it and how long is it? I know now but had no idea when I turned it on. That is a marketing problem. Covered in day 1 of 101.
