I'm about as far from a PC nazi as anyone, but your position makes no sense to me.
Ibanez wrote:White men took that term and made it vulgar.
White men named the team, so it is vulgar, yet honors them. Original Redskins fight song...

Hail to the Redskins!
Hail, victory!
Braves on the warpath!
Fight for Old D.C.!

Scalp 'em, swamp 'um
We will take 'um big score
Read 'um, Weep 'um, touchdown
We want heap more

Fight on, fight on, till you have won
Sons of Washington
Rah! Rah! Rah!

Yeah, real honorable. GMAFB.
Yeah, that fight song is bad. However, the team was named the Redskins and it was not an attempt to disparage Indians.

Yes, That's according to a few histories i've read on the Washington Redskins. Same goes for the Patriots. Should we changed the Vikings name? How about the Pirates? Buccaneers?

If you honestly think the Redskins named the team to honor native Americans then we are done discussing.

AFAIK, there are no Patriots, Vikings, Pirates or Buccaneers living other than Somali pirates and I don't see this guy on the logo...

Patriots and the ancestors of Vikings still exist.

No, this was an old history. It was about the transition from the Boston Braves and all that.

Something that resembles the location, history and tradition of the team and/or Washington. I doubt it would be something like the Senators. How about the Washington Colonials?

Not a bad option. Any new name sucks at first. I was not a fan of the name "Nationals" at first, but I like it now. Still think the Wizards is stupid though.

Her heritage is Wassassmasaw. She's a member and the family is active in the tribe, although not as much as they used to be. There is no reservation. She grew up on various military bases along the Eastern Seaboard and Ecuador.
The Wassamasaw Tribe of Varnertown Indians is a Native American group consisting of bloodline members from the Varnertown Indian community. The Varnertown Indians are descendants from several settlement Indians whose bloodlines include Catawba, Cherokee, and Edisto. The Varnertown Indian community has over a 150 year history of existence in Berkeley County as a separate Native American community.
There are eight (8) distinct sir names to which the Wassamasaw Tribe of Varnertown Indians can trace back Native ancestry to:

Broad
Burbage
Clark
Dangerfield
Driggers
Huff
Varner
Williams

No, but do you think it's OK for a person who grew up in the 50's to refer to blacks as 'colored'. Keep in mind that they grew up not thinking it belittled or disparaged blacks... that's just what they were called.

I'm not sure what he was looking for. Many people today are so far removed from their ancestral heritage. You see those 4 names up there Jon? 5 Of them are in the family tree. 5 of them repeat many, many many times. I don't give a fuck what percentage she is. The only...ONLY term she finds offensive as it relates to heritage is....
