You would think with all the gyms and iron-pumping in this country, we could score a metal or two.

Apparently, China has perfected the art of disguising doping....

Ought to be switched. The US ought to be thrown out on its ear for that home plate incident against the Chinese. The umps screwed Lefebvre no end over that cr@p. The catcher was CLEARLY out of the way, and the runner INTENTIONALLY took him out. I don't mind a legitimate takeout on a play at the plate; as a catcher I live for that. But to do that when there's no play at all is a clear violation of fair play, and the US team should be ejected from the tournament.

China is short one expected gold after their star hurdler (gold in Athens) failed to complete even one hurdle due to an Achilles problem.

Yes, that's true, BA. But it wouldn't have mattered if the Mag7 had shown up instead of this sucky team. (I'm factoring out Liukin and Johnson for this, though they choked in the team all-around, too.) Amanda Borden rules the gymnastics world.

You have a point, Jon. But the guy involved should be on a lonely flight home right now. There's no way that play should have happened. There was plenty of room for him to score without that. How he wasn't ejected, I'll never know.
