Yankee owners have always had the big $$$$ to pull the best players. Not so with Philly and other teams. Steinbrenner made it worse IMHO (the $$$ thing)) and caused the salaries to go sky high...making the players more and more greedy. Other teams are just beginning to catch up....some.

World Series bought and paid for with the almighty dollar.

As for the name Philly - it's not Filly, dipshit. It's Phillies - as in residents or inhabitants of Philadelphia. You'll try anything.

I'm confused. So you're saying that all inhabitants of Philadelphia are female horses? :kisswink:

so how long is it before the league bans Hank and Hal so Ca$hman can restock the teams farm system with talent and they can bring along a new "core 4" without trading them to Kansas City or Oakland?

i mean - i'm all for the brothers to be like their father was in the early 80's - pissing away talent and pursuing big names who wouldn't fit and being okay - but not real contenders... baseball in the 80's and early 90's was at it's best - in a period of 16 years 13 different teams won the series - the only repeats being the Dodgers, Twins and Jays

1979: Pirates
1980: Phillies
1981: Dodgers
1982: Cardinals
1983: Orioles
1984: Tigers
1985: Royals
1986: Mets
1987: Twins
1988: Dodgers
1989: A's
1990: Reds
1991: Twins
1992: Jays
1993: Jays
1994: Expos (well okay, no... but it was either them or Cleveland)
1995: Braves

THAT was good for baseball...

Oakland A's

I dunno, the threepeat in the '70s probably. All 9 of their titles were before my time :ohno:

Also, to no-one's surprise, I appear to be the only Oakland fan here

Just look at that...no yankmes titles in that timeframe. I do remember all this and it was great to have NY on the outside looking in.
