That might be so, SE. But consider this:

SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.

No, he's a pretentious douche. It's all about him, instead of the team. A team player would want who is able to be most effective to play. Let him stay in though, maybe the niners will break his leg.
Case in point. Just threw his 3rd INT. If he weren't hurt, he could've stepped into the throw and it wouldn't have been underthrown and picked.
Do they NOT have a backup QB? He did NOT help his team tonight...3 INT's and a fumble on their own 15.

3 of Rapistberger's turnovers were because of his lack of mobility.

Getting younger with a guy you're fairly certain about (i.e. Marino, Smell-Way, etc.) can result in some good things.

Sometimes, one gets lucky with it. (Andy Dalton.)

Playing a rookie/second-year guy is a crapshoot, especially when they HAVE to play due to injury (Hanie). The ultimate example, however, would be a lazy nincompoop like Billy Joe Hobert, who got cut immediately after copping to failing to study the game plan because "Jim Kelly NEVER gets hurt."

That said, guys who can step in immediately like Marino are few and far between. I may be old school, but I prefer to let a guy learn under an established guy for about four years. Otherwise, you often get a guy like Daryle Lamonica, who was generally OK, but prone to get lost in the zones. Good thing for the Raiders they had a VERY experienced backup in George Blanda, who could come in and immediately rip a zone apart.
You take everything way too literally and to the extreme. Obviously coaches aren't going to try to go younger without also maintaining or improving talent level.

I'm just happy the 49ers did the Ravens a big favor.

Wild 36 hours: Ravens went from the AFC #1 seed to the #5 seed & are now sitting at #2.
