I finally agree with you on something.

This one of Chuck Bednarik knocking out Frank Gifford in 1960 is a similar classic, though it's obviously more dear to Eagles fans than anyone else.

It’s an anniversary that Frank Gifford does not celebrate. Fifty years ago this weekend, as the Giants’ All-Pro running back, he lay crumpled at Yankee Stadium after having fumbled away a pass reception when blindsided by Eagles linebacker Chuck Bednarik late in a 17-10 loss. Unconscious, Gifford was carried off the field on a stretcher and examined. Wrapped in blankets with an ice-cold compress above his closed eyes, he was soon rolled on a gurney to an ambulance that hurried him to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital.

The diagnosis was said to be a “deep brain concussion,” and Gifford remained in the hospital for several days. His 1960 season was over...

Can you blame Gifford for not wanting to celebrate this so-called anniversary.He had a concussion.

There's nothing wrong with not wanting to fight for something you don't believe in. It's cowardly to not defend the US if it were under attack, but to force free men to fight overseas when the country isn't in danger is ridiculous.

Could not agree with you more. Ali was smart & courageous to refuse to serve a country that did not even look at him as an equal to all other Americans. I hope the champ gets to celebrate 20 more birthdays!

Generalize much? There's still elements of this country who do not look at African Americans as "equal"...should all African Americans just refuse to serve? How about Mexicans? Or Philippinos? Asians?

Antonio Inoki would have kicked Ali's azz without the silly rules that were imposed.

Ali may have been one of the greatest boxers, but he certainly wasn't one of the greatest fighters.
