There has been talk in baseball circles of Bagwell. Walker is a Canadian, they don't do that shiat.

However, the fact that he's a Yankee is what dooms him, since Yankees are held to different standards than other former players.

Posada's HOF monitor score is 98. A likely HOFer scores 100 on the HOF monitor score. So Posada is close and would get consideration if he played for any other team than the Yankees. I say this because a score of 130 or more is considered a "lock" for the HOF. There are only two former players without steroid taint eligible for the Hall who have a score of 130 or more who have not been elected to the Hall of Fame: Don Mattingly and Bernie Williams.

Pretty apparent that different standards get applied to Yankees.

Only someone living inside the bubble they call New York would have this view. Put these guys on different teams their whole career and they're looked at in a whole different light. If Derek Jeter is a Milwaukee Brewer for his career and doesn't have any WS rings they'd say "he's no Ozzie Smith".

There is a difference. Bagwell certainly more than Walker, but some baseball writers plainly suspect them. There are NO such suspicions about Posada and Williams.

Moreover, if there were any grounds to suspect Posada and Williams, it would have come out in the Mitchell Report because just about the only "investigation" performed by the Red Sox employee who wrote that report was an interview with a former Yankee strength coach.

Bagwell had a good career during the steroid era, ergo he MUST have done steroids. Never mind he's never failed a test. Never mind he wasn't mentioned in the Mitchell report. Never mind he never lied to a grand jury or in front of congress. Let's go ahead and lynch him and Walker along with the rest of 'em who HAVE done all those things.

I agree with you ... and I don't know how they can "clear" themselves when there has never been real proof that they cheated. It's character assassination without any real basis. But they have a steroid taint and that is what is keeping them both out at the moment. I do think that they will both eventually get in.
