I'd laugh it off as a mistake and play. I definitely wouldn't think much of it.

I'll watch most events that are timed, measured, or has points involved. I have a hard time watching events that are decided by judges.

That said, I prefer winter with hockey, speedskating, bobsled, luge, skiing, snowboarding (racing - not half pipe), etc.
Plus, it's winter time. Not much else to do than sit and watch TV.

I voted Winter Olympics

I think Olympic hockey is more exciting than Olympic basketball

Skiing/snowboarding/bobsled/luge, etc. is more exciting than swimming, track and field and bicycling.

Wrestling is a plus for summer.

All told, I think the Winter Olympics are more fun to watch.

+1 although women's beach volleyball could almost swing it in the other direction but unfortunately the weather will suck in London and they'll be wearing the equivalent of burqas. I will enjoy the soccer as well.
