What is are Phillies anyways? Aren't they some sort of stunted horse?

Phils score 6 runs in top of 2nd to give Cliff Lee a 6-0 lead. Lee gives up 7 runs in the next two innings.
Phils currently up 14-10 in the middle of the 9th. If the Phils hold on, Lee will get the win in spite of giving up 8 earned runs in 5 innings.

Lee is the first opening day starter since 1937 to give up 8 ER and still get the win. History, baby!

Lee & Papelbon are from the same mold, neither pitches well with a comfortable lead.

Papschmear's first 2014 appearance: blown save.

Crapelbon ruins what could've been an optimistic first series. Fastball peaked at 91 & was straight as hell.

The Phillies had a winning record on April Fools Day. Coincidence?

Just swept the Marlins. Chase Utley off to a 20-40 start.

Started 5-1; lose seven straight.
Ladies and Gentlemen, your Miami Marlins!

Jimmy Rollins, after hitting the walkoff HR, clearly telling a fan that he should have "shut the front door" of his house before coming to the game to heckle JRoll.

Ha. Seems like the game didn't pick up until the 8th inning.

That fan should take credit for motivating him.

Re: Phillies 2014 <yawn> thread
Too bad the NL East (through about 15% of the season) is doing very well. The Braves have a team ERA of just over 2.00 with their worst starter of 5 having an ERA of 2.31. The Mets are batting .218 but are somehow 3 games over .500. The Nats have had some major injuries yet are 2 games over .500. The Phils are right there at 1 game over.Ivytalk wrote:Holy crap!Seahawks08 wrote:Above .500 bitches! Championship here we come!

Good to see the Phils take the Nats series today behind Fausto Carmona. All five NL East teams within 1.5 games of each other.

I'm happy with the Phils start. I think they might be able to contend for a WC spot. I like the Braves to win the NL east, not really impressed by anyone else in the division. Long way to go though.Ivytalk wrote:Good to see the Phils take the Nats series today behind Fausto Carmona. All five NL East teams within 1.5 games of each other.

Re: Phillies 2014 <yawn> thread
Phils' starting pitching has been pretty good, and the hitting has been a bit better than their woeful spring training led me to expect. Middle relief is a disaster. Papschmear has done much better lately.BlueHen86 wrote:I'm happy with the Phils start. I think they might be able to contend for a WC spot.
