Re: Super Bowl thread
"....The Colts reportedly grew suspicious after linebacker D’Qwell Jackson intercepted Tom Brady late in the second quarter. A softer football is easier to throw and catch, especially in rainy conditions, as was the case Sunday night.
According to Newsday, Jackson gave the ball to a member of the Colts’ equipment staff, who notified coach Chuck Pagano, who then relayed a message to general manager Ryan Grigson in the press box. He contacted Mike Kensil, NFL director of football operations, who then told the on-field officials at halftime.
On the first play from scrimmage after the opening kickoff of the third quarter, the officials held up the game for a minute and ultimately switched out the game ball. Former NFL official Mike Carey, working the broadcast booth for CBS, surmised that “It looks like they still spotted the ball for a kicking ball, waiting for one of the ball guys to come down and give them a regular ball.”......"

Re: Super Bowl thread
Another example of why NFL replacement refs weren't really that bad.
If 11 of 12 balls were under-inflated, how come the officials, who handle the ball before & after every play, not catch on - seemingly the only questionable time was the 1st play of the 2nd half?
Maybe the NFL needs to investigate the umpire, line judge, head linesman, etc.

Re: Super Bowl thread
Softball controversy is hilarious! Anyway, if Belichick if found to be cheating again, he should be suspended for at least a year. I'm sure the commish will make a decision, get chastised by the media, and then change his decision, saying he didn't have all the evidence when he made his original decision.

Btw, the Pats outscored the Colts 28-0 in the 2nd half. They performed better with properly inflated balls so why cheat?

Well, Nixon was still going to win in a landslide in '72 and Watergate was still broken into and the whole thing covered up. Beli-cheat is kinda like Nixon - brilliant yet disturbingly paranoid at the same time.Ibanez wrote:Btw, the Pats outscored the Colts 28-0 in the 2nd half.
