Sh*t, my mother could have taken Moyer deep last night, and she's been dead for 5 years. SMFH.
Let's go, Hamels, give us a quality start tonight. No more of this candy-ass, tripping-over-yourself-while-fielding-a-bunt sh*t.

Phils up 6-0 after 3 innings. Werth has a 2-run homer. Hamels has retired all 9 batters he's faced, with 5 k's

Phils lead the Braves 8-2 after 7 innings. Hamels pitched 6 innings and allowed both runs. The Phils have 8 runs despite only having 5 hits. Utley, Werth and Coste have homered.

Good outing for Hamels, but is Lidge turning out to be a one-year wonder? Inquiring -- and worried -- minds want to know.BlueHen86 wrote:Braves get a three run homer in the ninth of Brad Lidge, but the Phils win 10-6. Yeah, seems like he's afraid Albert Pujols is at bat... I'm starting to get the "Flash" Gordon jitters... you never know what kind of outing you're going to get with him on the mound.

Re: 2009 Philadelphia Phillies Thread
Lidge is starting to become a concern. He's allowed 11 runs in 11.2 innings. The good news is that he has converted 4 out of 5 save opportunities. I'm hoping that the issue is that Lidge prefers to pitch under pressure. He's allowed a lot of runs, but most of the times he's had a big enough lead that a fews runs don't hurt anyting - other than his ERA.Ivytalk wrote:Good outing for Hamels, but is Lidge turning out to be a one-year wonder? Joe Blanton and the Phils get rocked by the Braves and lose 6-2. The loss drops the Phils to 3rd place, a half game behind the Mets and Marlins.

Re: 2009 Philadelphia Phillies Thread
Phils fall to the Braves 4-2. It is the 4th loss in the last 5 games for the Phils.
The bullpen fails to hold a lead, allowing 2 runs in the 7th and 1 in the 9th.

Park put on another good performance tonight... Let's hope the phils bullpen can close this out.
Jayson Werth has four stolen bases so far tonight... one on home plate

Lidge sure is making these games stressful to watch at the end, loaded up the bases in the top of the 9th in a save situation... Phils win 5-2 over the Dodgers

Jayson Werth had 4 stolen bases to tie a club record. One of them was a steal of home.JMU DJ wrote:Lidge sure is making these games stressful to watch at the end, loaded up the bases in the top of the 9th in a save situation... Phils win 5-2 over the Dodgers

The final was 5-3. The Dodgers scored a run in the 9th off of Lidge.JMU DJ wrote:Lidge sure is making these games stressful to watch at the end, loaded up the bases in the top of the 9th in a save situation... Phils win 5-2 over the Dodgers
I was watching the game, saw the run score and knew it was 5-3. You posted 5-2 and I was going to correct you - and then I noticed that ESPN also had the final at 5-2.

Crumby quality... some guy filming his TV... but it's the best I could find so far. Three consecutive stolen bases in the same inning... don't see that often.

Re: 2009 Philadelphia Phillies Thread
I think Pete Rose did it in the mid 70's. Off the top of my head that is the only other occasion I can think of. I'm sure it's been done more than that, but I don't follow baseball that closely.JMU DJ wrote:Crumby quality... some guy filming his TV... but it's the best I could find so far. Good to see Jayson do well.
His mom went to high school with my sisters, and I went to high school with his aunt.
His uncle (Former MLB player Dickie Schofleld) was in my grade, but was always at arch-rival schools. We were supposed to go to the same HS, but his dad (also a former MLB player) had him go to the Catholic HS.
FCS connection - Jayson's dad was a WR for Illinois State.

Re: 2009 Philadelphia Phillies Thread
Phils use an early Jimmy Rollins homer to take a 1-0 lead, but the Dodgers rock Jamie Moyer in the 4th and go on to beat the Phils 9-2.This is the second bad start in a row for Moyer, whose record stands at 3-3 with a 8.15 ERA.
For the second game in a row, Rollins batted 5th in the line up. The homer raised his BA to .200.
