Yesterday was interesting in CONCACAF.

US-Jamaica game was mostly meaningless and US won 2-0 in a relatively uninspiring performance outside of the last 20 minutes or so.

Honduras won at home versus Costa Rica to secure at least a playoff spot against NZ. Only need a tie versus Jamaica on Tuesday to secure the 3rd place automatic bid to Brazil.

In the most important match of the night, Mexico wins on a bicycle kick in the 85th minute to get the leg up on Panama for the 4th place (the playoff game versus NZ) and an outside shot at 3rd.

My guess for what happens on Tuesday:
US @ Panama - a deflated Panama team loses to the US after blowing the game late versus Mexico yesterday

Mexico @ Costa Rica - An inspired Mexican team wins over an already qualified CR team.

Honduras @ Jamaica - In what completes a sweep for the away teams, Honduras guarantees itself a bid to Brazil by crushing Jamaica and sends Mexico to a home and home series versus NZ for the right to go to Brazil.

Note that all 3 games will be at the same time so all teams in the running still have to try.

Don't think I have ever felt worse for a US win than today's game.

Panama up 2-1 with minutes to go (on their way to the World Cup because Mexico was losing) and we get 2 goals in the final few minutes to win. Panamanians are going to be crying themselves to sleep. It was basically our C Team that beat Panama but still a good effort by the Panamanians today. Almost feel sick for them as we almost helped them knock Mexico out of the World Cup.

Mexico better beat New Zealand in the playoff to qualify.

We've gone from being the underdog that's just happy to be there to being the team that crushes the other teams dreams. That killer instinct is what were gonna need in Brazil. US Soccer has come a long way.

Mexico has the lowest point total (16)but they still believe they have a legit shot at qualifying. What gives????

I don't understand your confusion. Their legit shot comes on the form of a playoff with New Zealand.

I thought they were out after losing to Uncle Sam then they lose to Honduras, Jamaica,Costa Rica. Now it's New Zealand when will it stop???Another question why didn't their Federation hire Tena instead of De la Torre.Tena led their U-23 team to history by winning the Gold Medal in soccer over Sweden 2-1 in the Olympics????

What don't you understand? And Mexico never lost to Jamaica. They lost to Honduras and beat Panama at home (others were ties at home). They beat Jamaica away and lost to US and Costa Rica away (rest were ties away).

CONCACAF has 3.5 spots (.5 is the 4th place team plays in a playoff with winner of Oceania - New Zealand)

Mexico finished 4th in the region so they get the playoff game. You realize that they beat Panama on Friday, right?

Final Standings of the final round of CONCACAF qualifying:
United States 7-2-1 22 pts
Costa Rica 5-2-3 18 pts
Honduras 4-3-3 15 pts
Mexico 2-3-5 11 pts
Panama 1-4-5 8 pts
Jamaica 0-5-5 5 pts

Note that Mexico was 6-0-0 in the previous round to advance to the final round of CONCACAF qualifying so there were more than 6 teams in CONCACAF trying to qualify - there were 35 to start out.

Missing in all of this kissing and hugging is the total devastation in Panama. This was their one and only chance to go to the WC. The USA could not really celebrate after seeing grown men sitting down on the pitch crying. Some of the Nats stopped celebrating long enough to go over and comfort them.

The most cruel game struck again last night.

The US/Scotland game ended with a 0-0 score.

In UEFA news, the Ukrainians beat France 2-0 in the first game of the aggregate. If France can't make up the score on the second leg, they'll fail to qualify for the World Cup for the first time in 20 years.
