Sure did. Catcher really didn't do the pitcher any favors keeping his glove right-side up.

As a Rockies fan, I don't know who to blame for that one. Both de la Rosa and Iannetta screwed that up pretty good. Good game tonight, fellas, we'll hope to get the split tomorrow.

Well, with Blanton pitching, you should have a 3-0 lead after the first half-inning. Probably the worst first-inning pitcher in baseball.

These Phillies remind me more and more of the White Sox of the 60s: solid pitching and virtually no hitting. Single, steal second, 3rd on WP, score on sac fly = rally!

Blanton was scratched for Kendrick and, right on cue, Kendrick gives up three in the top half of the first. That may be enough for the Rocks with this Phils offense.

C'mon rain!

The Phils have a Triple-A lineup right now, and Howard is stinking up the joint. Fortunately, I don't see either Atlanta or Florida running away with this division.

Yup - no Utley, no Victorino, Ruiz still being slowly worked back into the lineup - that's 1/3 of the lineup right there. Kinda need some of them back before we can hit a little better. But even last year the bats never woke up - don't see any reason why they would now unless you get something new out of Brown (when he comes up) or Mayberry. But hey, it's the Year of the Pitcher, take 2, just keep riding those horses.

Well, this series is exactly what many expected of the Phils this year. Pitchers lock it down and the O gets the HR to win it. If they ever pull together any semblance of a healthy and potent lineup they will be unstoppable.

It'll be interesting to see how Oswalt is progressing tomorrow. Getting the broom ready.

Yup - for as "bad" as it's been, the Phils are doing pretty well. Sure is hard having these kinds of problems.

Phils take the series from the Rangers - see if Oswalt can provide the broom today. In bigger news, mark it down, Monday Chase Utley returns!!!

Shit. Shut out again -- this time by the immortal Matt Harrison. SMFH, this batting slump is getting old.

Don't look now, but the Ms' rotation is giving the 'fearsome foursome' a run for their money.  :ugeek:

And they might be meeting the Diamondbacks in the series.... :coffee: :coffee: :coffee: D-backs sweep the Twinkies, go 6-1 on the homestand and have won 8 of 9 to get back to .500...getting timely hitting and GREAT pitching....Juan Miranda finally woke up, as did Daniel Hudson and Joe Saunders. Ian Kennedy is pitching like the #1 we thought he was we we got him from the Yankmees, and Saunders is pitching better and making the Haren trade not look so fucking bad. For now, Kevin Towers has got the D-Backs relevant again, and Kirk Gibson should be in the running for manager of the year considering the transformation he's created in the clubhouse....it's actually FUN to watch and go to D-backs games again!

The power of Chase Utley! He makes his season debut, doesn't even have a hit, but every other player in the lineup does and the Phils lead 9-0 in the bottom of the 3rd.

14 hits, 10 runs, 3 HRs, 6 extra base hits.

Finally, everybody hits (except Uts)

woo hoo!

Looking forward to some Vance Worley tomorrow. He's a bit of a weirdo, which I like!

And I was part of that record regular season crowd, perched in my nosebleed seat in section 420 behind home plate!

Fun 19 inning game just finished between the Phillies and Reds, Wilson Valdez (reserve 2nd baseman) picks up the win.

In no way, shape or form is a 19 inning game ever fun unless it's a playoff elimination game, and even that is probably too much.

Yep. I won't even watch an entire 9 innings straight unless the Mariners are playing or it's the World Series.

Heck, I turned it off and went to bed after the Phils tied it in the 10th. Already too tired and had work this morning.

I do remember being at that Phils/Padre doubleheader in '93 where the first game was delayed significantly by rain, and ended just after 1AM. And then, amazingly, the scoreboards showed that the second game was going to start at 1:25AM. We stayed until about the 4th inning or so of that game and left sometime around 2:30AM. Game ended memorably in the 10th inning with an RBI single by Mitch "Mitchypoo" Williams. Good times. Phils actually had a 20 inning game against the Dodgers a week or two after that - remember watching that game, the whole game, at home.

Eh, I always enjoy it when position players get to come in to pitch, which usually doesn't occur until the game has gone a ridiculously long time. Valdez was the first player to start a game in the field and record the win since Babe Ruth back in 1921.

I was at that Dodger game, and I stayed. :thumb: Nails with the game-winner.
