Slovakia wins 4-3 and will meet Canada in a semi-final game on Friday.

I gotta admit, I didn't see this coming.

Me either, but I'll be really surprised if Canada doesn't throttle the Slovaks.

NBC is so praying for the all-North American final - bet that one goes on NBC.

Well, it'll be the last and only event going on before the closing ceremonies, so I'd sure as shit hope so.

If the US wants any hope of winning the gold medal count, we really need our ladies to beat Canada for the women's hockey gold today. Go team.

I saw it after the fact. The worst part is, the guy was dead tired, taking short strides, finishing the last few laps of a very long endurance distance, gold all but wrapped up, and the coach sends him down the wrong lane.

His quote, IIRC, was "everyone makes mistakes, but this was an expensive one." That poor coach is going to live a life of guilt and get the Buckner treatment back in the Netherlands. It's their national sport.

They're predicting six or seven more golds for the Canadians, essentially doubling their gold count in the next four days? In what events? There are 26 gold medals left to give out. They're going to get a quarter of them?

Hockey should be 2 that they don't get.

I'll guess that they are predicting Canada gold in men's and women's hockey, men's and women's curling. Not sure what other events.

I think we get the women's gold and the men's silver, unfortunately. So hockey is a wash (for USA vs Canada).

I hope you are right, but I think they are favored in both.

I understand your logic on the Men's side of the argument. I just think that if the U.S.A.'s goalie keeps playing the way he has been, the U.S.A. should be unbeatable.

Hope you're right! :thumb: Two golds in hockey would be the ultimate middle finger to America's hat.

Especially after this year's, or was it last year, under 18 hockey team going up to Canada and beating them.

CNNSI doesnt have men favored in Curling, but others may so that could be the 6th CNNSI has a Canadian listed as 3rd in Women's figure skating so that could be the 7th on some predictions.

He just has to weather the storm until the Dutch choke in the World Cup, then they'll have something else to direct their frustration towards.

Indeed. The US picks up two medals they werent projected to (by CNNSI) while Germany drops another medal they were expected to win.
