As a lifelong Red Sox fan, I can not agree more...bluehenbillk wrote:One of the best days if the year - when the Yankees get eliminated...
The Sox could lose 100 games in a season...as long as the Yankees lose 101, all is good...

I would have no problem telling it to anyone. IMO the only acceptable times to act like 12 year olds drinking your first beer are LCS win, WS win and maybe if you haven't made the playoffs in like 10 years and finally clinch. Winning a tiebreaker game... NOPE. Winning a wild card game... NOPE. Not even winning the LDS. I'm talking about the stupid goggle wearing shit.dal4018 wrote:Tell this to the winners!!!89Hen wrote:Annual stupid champagne traditions. GMAFB.

Clinching playoffs, winning LCS, and winning WS are the only acceptable reasons.89Hen wrote:I would have no problem telling it to anyone. Not sure why you are qualifying the playoff clinching. 7 months, 180+ games. Worth a celebration. Nats fans should know that there are no guarantees.

Nats fans don't want to see a bunch of doofuses in goggles celebrating clinching the playoffs because we know that doesn't mean shit.CAA Flagship wrote:Clinching playoffs, winning LCS, and winning WS are the only acceptable reasons.89Hen wrote: I would have no problem telling it to anyone. Houston to repeat, Rockies to regroup.
Should Rockies trade Arenado? After next season he is a free agent, says he wants to stay, but agent is Scott Boras.

Nah, clinching the playoffs is cool, like the other poster said - it's too much of a grind not to celebrate. I'm fine with muted celebrations of the wild card game or the LDS, but making the playoffs, winning the pennant, and winning the WS are big deals.89Hen wrote:Nats fans don't want to see a bunch of doofuses in goggles celebrating clinching the playoffs because we know that doesn't mean ****.CAA Flagship wrote: Clinching playoffs, winning LCS, and winning WS are the only acceptable reasons.

Re: 2018 Major League Baseball Season
I overcame my loathing of Joe Buck to watch most of the Brewers-Dodgers game. I really hate the way that pitchers are handled under the new cybermetrics system. Will any starter go 5 innings in this series? Or will we keep seeing 6-8 pitchers per team, per game, whether needed or not? I’ve always been a non-fan of Dave Roberts anyway, but Counsell is drinking the same Kool-Aid.

Tampa started this, and because they overachieved, more teams do it. It has to bite someone bad, then it will end.

Re: 2018 Major League Baseball Season
The Astros pitching in the late innings has been a disaster...
The Red Sox have had a man on second base (or more) in every inning from the 6th on
They scored 4 runs last night after the 6th
and 6 runs the night before after the 6th
It's like a merry-go-round on the bases after the 6th
That's no way to go through life... The Astros coach is going to have a brain aneurysm

And the media types are trumpeting exactly such a result, for self-serving reasons. I suppose I’d find a way to root for the Sox, given my fond memories of the old Fenway bleachers. I’d never root for any LA team ever, under any circumstances.Col Hogan wrote:I doubt the Astros will win 3 in a row...bluehenbillk wrote:I see an Astros-Brewers World Series....
