If anyone was wondering why South Philly smelled even worse than normal on Wednesday night:

Tony Stewart has a Tony Stewart moment and rams Brian Scott for no reason whatsoever, ending Scott's night.

Good riddance. Dude has a screw loose.

Great track, great crowd, great race. Truex victory, fighting off a hard charging Harvick.

The Southern 500 is still awesome. NASCAR was idiotic taking away the Labor Day date for a decade and abandoning its roots. Hopefully they've learned some lessons -- the hard way.

I was only able to watch the 1st half of the race on Sunday night. Miraculously was able to keep from finding out who won until watched the 2nd half of race last night.

Truex! Finally has another race (other being Coke 600) where no bad luck or self inflicted screwups. He was certainly due to win a race where he didn't have the best car, after losing so many race where he had the best, or one of the best cars, due to mostly freakish bad luck, and a couple of self inflicted problems. Almost wins 1st race of NASCARS's triple crown (Daytona 500), and wins the 2nd (Coke 600) and wins the 3rd (Southern 500). Kind of makes up for the other races he should have won but didn't.

Truex pit crew made up for f'ing up at Michigan by being awesome last night. Last pit stop of 11.2 won the race. Harvick's pit crew on the other hand again costs him a likely win, with yet another race of poor pit road performance.

Watched that live. JHN deserves to be run into every wall the rest of the season

The dump on the corner is fine and was more than enough to get him the win

The intentionally driving him 20 feet off the track and continuing to pin him against the wall is a fucking prick move.

Hope he gets wrecked out Ed every race to finish the year.

Tony Stewart once again goes hothead and blatantly causes an accident. Comes right down on Newman multiple times in the course of half a lap, ultimately bottlenecking Newman and Edwards and causing a huge accident. It's one thing to race hard for a win, but Tony is just wrecking people in the middle of the field randomly when he gets hot. He just needs to go away. Good fucking riddance.

Newman's interview was just awesome. :notworthy: Google it tomorrow. Some keywords/phrases:

thought he was in a sprint car again
didn't know how to control his anger
disappointing that you got somebody old like that's retiring that should be retired
ridiculous
bipolar
anger issues
quite the guy

Finally able to watch the race last night. Rewatched the Newman/Stewart dust up a # of times. That 1 lap had 3 contacts. 1st time was totally Stewart getting into Newman. 2nd time looked more like Newman getting into Stewart not as bad, which looked like a justified tit-for-tat. 3rd time of course Stewart took out Newman, along with himself and Edwards.

Stewart interview 20-30 min into the post race totally admitted to taking out Newman on purpose. Claims Newman got int him 3 times. The only one I saw was the above after Stewart got into Newman. Stewart said there was an earlier lap when no one saw when Newman got into Stewart. I'd like to see that.

After missing the 1st 8 races the 1st 16 races I don't recall Stewart having major unjustified dustups with anyone. But these last 2 races he looks like he's been a major a-hole. It was like he was on meds the 1st 16 races and then has been off of them the last 2. At Darlington Scott definitely didn't deserve to be taken out. And Newman (who can be a hot head himself) didn't based on what we saw with that one lap (again I'd like to see what happened earlier that Tony was referring to).

I like Smoke, but damn these last 2 races have made it harder..

Richmond race came down to Hamlin (best short run car, led 2nd most # of laps)) and Truex (best long run car, led most # of laps). Heck, Truex, even with a pit road speeding penalty worked his way back to the front. Hamlin having the #1 pit stall and the slew of cautions in the last 3rd of the race was the difference.

First Three Out: Newman, Kahne, Bayne
My predictions: Continued JGR Toyota dominance. Think the Final 8 will be the 5 JGR alliance Toyotas, the 2 Penskes, and only 1 Chevy, with 3 Toyotas & 1 Penske in the Final 4.
Out after round of 16: Buescher, Elliott, Dillon, McMurray (yeah I know that's simply picking the bottom 4)
Out after round of 12: Johnson, Kurt Busch, Stewart, Larson
Out after round of 8: Kyle Busch, Harvick, Kenseth, Logano
Final 4: #1 Keselowski, #3 Hamlin, #5 Edwards, #6 Truex

Champion: Truex.

All the whiners about Truex's bad luck can STFU now.

Truex steals Chase Elliott's first win when an also-ran blows a tire with four laps to go.

Chicagoland Top 5
1. Truex
2. Logano
3. Elliott
4. Blaney
5. Keselowski

Hendrick cars finally found the horsepower they've been missing all year, keeping all four cars in the top ten most of the day. JJ really screwed up speeding on his last green flag stop while leading. Penske cars also very strong, and other than JGR-powered Truex, the JGR cars were not stellar today. Harvick was possibly the fastest car on the track, but also had bad luck getting caught on pit road during a caution.

TRUEX!!! ..Although I wouldn't have mind seeing Elliot win. Truex's pit crew comes through on that last pit stop. Elliott's crew didn't have a bad stop, Truex's was just better. That 1 spot gained was the difference..No usual bad luck for Truex thus time..

Much of the race was all 4 Hendrick in top 10 with Johnson Elliott 1-2. Either Hendrick has been sandbagging or they have all of a sudden caught up with JGR on horsepower..

Too bad for Johnson. That late pit road speeding penalty may bave cost him a win...

Yeah, well I was typing my post as you posted yours..

After losing 4-5 races when he was the best/one of the best cars that he should have won, Truex has now 2 very huge races in a row that he maybe shouldn't have won. He was certainly a top 5 car the last 2 weeks, but not the best last week (Harvick was) and maybe not the best this week. So his luck in my mind has close to evened out.

I think the top 4 cars today were In no particular order Truex, Johnson, Elliott & Harvick (at least the 1st half of the race) Harvick had his issue of starting from the rear, Johnson had his speeding penalty, and Truex had his bad tire issue. Fortunately for Gruex the tire issue came in the 1st quarter/third of the race.

I take it that the kiss wink means you're joking? Because there's no way Truex was catching Elliott without the caution and the slower pit stop by Elliott's crew. Elliott maintained a 1.1 second, 250-270 ft lead on Truex from 19 laps to go until 4 laps to go when the caution came out and was pulling on Truex for the two laps before the caution.

Yeah but Elliot was approaching traffic. A guy from Jersey will out-drive a guy from Georgia in traffic easily.
