Hey, azzhole, I figured the World Cup was important enough around here to at least have a separate thread for it (as was on here 4 years ago), like the Olympics & the other pro sport tourney threads, not piggybacked on a 2 year old thread. Well, guess it ain't that important then..grizzaholic wrote:Just open the **** thread asshole.BDKJMU wrote:

You soccer guys are truly amazing.
Give me until tonight (since my computer at work is shit when it comes to playing gifs/youtube) and I'll post more than you'll know what to do with.
I'm not saying soccer doesn't have an issue, but to act like the NFL/NBA isn't worse is pretty short sided.

You thought, that seems to be a recurring theme with your inane posts.
Second, it isn't important. It is fucking soccer.

Re: US SOCCER
Germany up 1-0 on a PK. Good call as German was taken down in the box - otherwise would have had a clear chance.
D has been very sloppy for both teams. Portuguese goalie from wide of the goal passed to a German striker 15 yards outside the box. German barely missed wide. German D has given Portugal a few good chances by giving up the ball to them.

PLEASE. There is no way in hell any of you mooks are serious when you can't admit there is 100x more diving in soccer than any other sport. You guys are too far gone to even have this discussion apparently.JMU DJ wrote:and that took me no time to find on the Al Gore Interspace machine.
BTW, if I saw more of these, I wouldn't have a problem with the occassional dive.

Re: US SOCCER
Things working out well so far. 2-0 Germany on a header off of a corner kick. Portugal with an injury sub already in the 28th minute which can make it tough for them later in the game (not Ronaldo)
Edit: And now Pepe with a red card so he will miss the US match

Re: US SOCCER
3-0 at half with the Germans scoring right before half. Mueller with his 2nd goal on a scramble right before half. This could get even uglier since Portugal is down to 10 men and has already used a sub.
Will be interesting to see if Ronaldo gets pulled at one point (60th minute) to save himself for the US game.

It's never really a World Cup until Germany blasts someone. Glad it was Portugal getting it out of the gate and not the US. Of course, if we had gotten Portugal to start, ala 2002, that could've worked for us. Portugal has all the fortitude of a wet noodle.

Urlacher said a Bears coach would simulate a swimmers’ diving motion with his arms from the sideline and the player “would get hurt.”
He said it was beneficial on long drives or early in the season when defenders were more easily gassed.

Portugal gets a lot of hype due to Ronaldo, but outside side of him they don't have a lot going for them. And it's pretty clear that he isn't capable of carrying a team on his own.GannonFan wrote:It's never really a World Cup until Germany blasts someone. Re: US SOCCER
The Germans are terrifying during the group stages, arguably the best team each year. When it comes to the long-haul though, they simply can't get over that hump when the knockout stage is reached.
As for Portugal, they're like England. Great, but never elite...a tier 1.5 type team.
