The Americans start out a little rusty but get a late goal from Bobby Ryan. 1-0 USA over Switzerland at the first intermission.

3-1. Decent tune-up for the USA against a middle-tier squad. Now they actually get to practice.

Another tune-up against Norway on Thursday and then the ultimate test versus Canada on Sunday.

Yeah, they were really getting handled by the Swiss there for a bit in the 3rd. Glad to get the points and more practice time.

USA vs Canada is gonna be insane.

Ah CNBC! :thumb: Thanks for the heads up.

So we have NBC, USA, MSNBC, and CNBC covering the various events. Got it.

There are definitely some cuties out there. I'll take the skinny blonde broomer on the left.

I must admit (and pardon my crudeness) that watching those little Japanese women pushing those brooms back and forth at jackhammer pace gave me instant wood. :thumb:

5-0 US women at the 1st intermission.

Lindsey Jacobellis skids out of bounds in the second semifinal in snowboard cross is eliminated from the medals. Canada's Maelle Ricker just won gold. :|

Look for the US medal lead to disappear today as the Germans have a great shot for medals in the women's 500 speed skating and luge, of course.

Well, the professor in Colorado that always does so well with medal predictions says that Canada will win the medal count with 27 and we'll be tied for second with Norway at 26.

Yeah, I think we'll do okay in the overall medals. We just need the favored to win (like Lindsey) to actually win.

True that, the Japanese women ain't bad either. :thumb: That was a bad 5th End for the US women..let the Japanese tie up the game, 4-4. Could have been worse.

In other ass-kicking news - it's 7-0 US over Russia with 16 to go in the 2nd.

Flew home on Virgin America today with inflight TV. Watched two curling matches (games?) plus two hockey games. Hockey teams looked good, but the curling teams definitely could have gone 3-0 today instead of 0-3. Going to need to do some serious work to advance out of the opening round now. The loss to Norway especially has to sting - in Overtime, with the last throw, that should be a gimme win.

Some of them, definitely.

Though Stella Heiss and Melanie Robillard are pretty good looking

(although Stella is only 17, and I think is an alternate. at least she wasn't on the ice today)

And while the US women curlers may look good, they aren't exactly performing that well on the ice.

Awesome! Here's to hoping to more for both!

Both the men and women curlers are off to 0-2 starts. Watched the women bungle several chances against the Germans this afternoon.

Curling = televised crack. I love that stuff.
