Don't it? The fact that you have teams (plural) implies that it does.89Hen wrote:Grizalltheway wrote:He's a Caps bandwagoner. He's just salty that it fails to pay off year after year.
So if somebody grew up in Detroit for 25 years and then moved to Cleveland for 25 years and they were Lions and Browns fans, they'd be bandwagon fans. Gotcha.Grizalltheway wrote:Don't it? The fact that you have teams (plural) implies that it does.89Hen wrote:

Ovie's 46 goals in 97 playoff games (0.47 per) is pretty bad. Pales compared to Crosby's 57 goals in 148 playoff games (.39), or Malkin's 58 in 149 (0.39), or Patrick Kane's 50/147 (0.39) or Claude Giroux's 23/63 (0.37)... It aint because of Ovie that the Caps haven't gone further GF.

I remember the old axiom about the lottery and winning it - you can't win the lottery if you don't play. Has the same kind of ring to it as the Stanley Cup Finals and Ovechkin.89Hen wrote:Maybe I'll win the lottery.GannonFan wrote:

Z analogy.GannonFan wrote:Has the same kind of ring to it as the Stanley Cup Finals and Ovechkin.
Bruins don't really scare me as a Flyers fan, certainly not as a Caps fan. Bolts... want no part of them. What I'm really hoping for is:CAA Flagship wrote:Blue Jackasses (79 G/94 pts), Flyers (79/94), Devils (79/93), and Panthers (78/88) fighting for the final three spots in the East.
And 7th place is the coveted position since that will earn a 1st round matchup with the Caps vs. either the Bruins or Lightning. Sorry 89, but you have to admit that would be a more favorable path to the second round.
Not sure how the Flyers can play the Pens. My head hurts thinking about it.89Hen wrote:Bruins don't really scare me as a Flyers fan, certainly not as a Caps fan. Bolts... want no part of them. Caps > Jackets
Flyers > Pens
Then I'm guaranteed a team in the conference finals.
Pretty sure the Pens, Flyers, Blue Jackets and Devils can all finish 2, 3, 4 or 5. Pens do hold the tiebreaker over all three other teams. Biggest game left is Pens @ BJ's on Thursday night. That could determine a lot.CAA Flagship wrote:Not sure how the Flyers can play the Pens. Still not following you (especially the relevance of the 2,3,4,5 thing). Maybe I don't know how the seeding works. My understanding is the two divisional winners will be seeds 1 and 2 and the two wild cards will be 7 and 8, with the middle based on points. Is that not right? Or are the last 6 seeds based on points? Or does finishing 2nd in the division guarantee you a top 4 seed no matter of the points? Again, my head hurts trying to find the answers.89Hen wrote:Pretty sure the Pens, Flyers, Blue Jackets and Devils can all finish 2, 3, 4 or 5. Pens do hold the tiebreaker over all three other teams. Panthers have Nashville and Boston (2) so they probably have the toughest path and the longest way to go to start.
Devils have Rangers, Leafs and Caps, but the Caps will have zero to play for and if Trotz doesn't sit Ovie he should be fired. I don't care if he's going for the scoring title. Shit, he almost got hurt last night.
BJ's have Detroit, Pittsburgh and Nashville but the Preds could be resting as well.
Pens only have Columbus and Ottawa left.
To be a complete jinx, the Flyers have by far the easiest schedule left, facing three non-playoff teams (Isles, Canes, Rangers).
2 plays 3 in each division first round, guaranteed (top 3 gets autos). 1st in each division plays a wild card team which may or may not be from their division.CAA Flagship wrote:Still not following you (especially the relevance of the 2,3,4,5 thing). Ah. I see. Makes sense now. Been a while since the Devils were in the hunt.89Hen wrote:2 plays 3 in each division first round, guaranteed (top 3 gets autos). 1st in each division plays a wild card team which may or may not be from their division.CAA Flagship wrote: Still not following you (especially the relevance of the 2,3,4,5 thing). It's kind of a crappy format. The most egregious was a couple years ago when the #4 team in the Metro (Islanders) got to basically play in the inferior Atlantic for the playoffs while the #3 Rangers had to face the Pens first round and would have had to go through the Caps had they beaten them.CAA Flagship wrote:Ah. Yep and they almost did last night. Squeaking into the playoffs....just need one point at home against NYR tomorrow.Ivytalk wrote:Still possible for the Flyers to choke.
