All season. Some guy on WIP was saying he has been through stretches like this several times before. I'm still more worried about Lidge.

jeeze... I just looked at the pitching matchup for the Phis Dodgers game this afternoon... Assuming Cole doesn't get hit by an errant ball, me thinks this is going to be a very low scoring game. Well at least until Lidge comes in the ninth and gives me a heart attack.

DAMMIT!!

Phillies lose another series to Dodgers after 5-3, 10-inning loss today. Bullpen sucked (Lidge, Durbin) AGAIN, and offense was virtually zilch. Another quality start by Hamels wasted. Why don't they freakin' stay on the road the rest of the year? SMFH.   :jack:

 Called it...Phils Bullpen blows the game. Is Romero working out? They need him back immediately... I'm more surprised Broxton gave them a chance to come back in the bottom of the 9th.

Phils lose to the Dodgers 5-3 in 10 innings.

The Dodgers led 2-1 going into the 9th and scored an insurance run off of Brad Lidge to make it 3-2. The Phils tied it up in the bottom of the 9th with a 2-out, 2-run double from Carlos Ruiz. The Dodgers got 2 runs in the 10th with back to back two out doubles.

Brad Lidge has just blown another save. The Phils entered ther 9th with a 6-4 lead, but the Nats score 2 runs to tie the game. They are currently in the 10th tied at 6. Lidge has allowed at least 1 run in his last 6 appearances.

He has also allowed 5 home runs this year (none tonight) compared to only 3 all of last year.

Phils score 4 in the top of the 12th and go on to win 10-6. J. Happ pitches 2 scoreless innings to get the win. Happ was supposed to start tomorrows game.

Pat Who?

Phils are currently up 6-2 in the top of the 7th versus the Nats. The score will probably be 6-6 or 6-7 by the bottom of the 9th, but that's not the point here. I'm sitting here thinking the Phils made the best off season acquisition of any team in baseball.

Raul Ibanez currently is 3-4 on the day with 2Hrs, 3R, and 4 RBI. He is hitting .364 with 12 Hrs, 32 RBI, 29 runs, 4 SB and a .985 fielding percentage on the year.

Pat Burrell, who I was sad to see go and doubted the move for Ibanez, is hitting .250, 1Hr, 17 RBI, 9R, 1 SB and a fielding percentage of... oh wait, he's the Rays DH... he's not even playing the field anymore and is already having injury problems.

Sorry Pat, as much as I love you... it's time to throw you under the bus. GO IBANEZ!

I agree regarding Burrell and Ibanez. I was sorry to see Pat go, I wish him well, but Ibanez looks like a great acquisition at this point.

The Phils currently lead 8-5 going into the bottom of the 9th. Lidge is coming in to pitch.

Lidge pitches a scoreless 9th and the Phillies win 8-5. Lidge had allowed at least one run in each of his last 6 appearances.

Brett Myers (3-2) got the win, he pitched 7 innings and allowed 2 runs. The Nats scored 3 off of Madson in the bottom of the 8th. The three runs raised Madson's ERA to 3.57.

Jimmy Rollins hit lead off and went 2-4, raising his average to .207

This was game 1 of a day night double header.

Phils up 7-5 over the Nats in the night game in the top of the 6th during a rain delay.

Just to further my Ibanez point... in game two: 2 for 3 with 1HR, 1R and 3RBI.

Was at the game on Saturday night. You have to worry about the future of baseball in Washington. I'll be conservative in saying it was 80% Phillies fans. I kept wondering how many people would've been there if the opposing team was the Padres or Giants.....

The Phils beat the Reds 4-3. Cole Hamels (2-2) gets the win, pitching 6 innings and allowing 3 runs.
Brad Lidge pitches a scoreless 9th to earn his 8th save. Ryan Howard hit his 9th home run. The win is the Phils 5th in a row, all on the road.

Maybe they should stay there! 8-)

Phils' bats come back in 12-5 afternoon thumping of Reds. Utley, Howard, Dobbs and Ibanez go yard. Bullpen pitches well in support of a still-shaky Joe Blanton.

Blanton looked good for 4 innings as the Phillies opened up a 6-0 lead. The 5th inning was a disaster as Blanton allowed 5 runs, all earned. The bullpen pitched well, although Chan Ho Park walked 2 batters in the 8th.

Jimmy Rollins went 4-6 and raised his average to .217

From the Spartanburg herald website ( goupstate.com )

Did you know that Spartanburg and Wofford once hosted Spring Training for a Major League Baseball team?

If you happened to be there - and a newborn - you are 105 years old. So, chances are you missed this event in person, but it's a neat trip into history. The Wofford baseball team played the A's and over the years has played several barnstorming professional teams - even battled Ty Cobb back in the day. Tonight, the Terriers will add to that history of playing professional teams by taking on the Class A Greenville Drive.

From March 13-30, 1904, Spartanburg and Wofford College hosted Spring Training for the Philadelphia Athletics of the American League. Under the direction of legendary manager Connie Mack the A's made Wofford's ball park their home for the four weeks of practice and stayed at the Spartan Inn.

Thanks to my friend Don Camby who found this a couple years ago. On March 25, 1904 the A's took on the Wofford nine and here is how the write-up read in the Spartanburg Journal the following day:

"A clean, snappy game was played yesterday between the Philadephias and the Wofford team, the former winning by a score of 5 to 0. The Wofford team surprised its friend with the execellent (sp) game put up against the professionals. Cleveland and Durant both pitched well and every may on the team fielded his position in good sty

The Phils had a farm team in Spartanburg for years.

Rollins homers on first pitch of the game.
Second pitch hits Utley.
Ibanez follows with a hit.

Phils lead 1-0, and are batting in the top of the 1st with men on 1st and 3rd.

Carlos Ruiz hits a 2 run homer in the second to make it 3-0 Phillies. It's the first of the year for Ruiz.

The first inning ended when a good relay throw from Rollins gunned down Damon at the plate.

Exciting game so far. Myers threw behind Jeter in retaliation for Utley getting hit and the umps have warned both teams.
