The U.S. is not mathematically eliminated just yet. All the U.S. needs to do is to beat Egypt by 6 and hope Italy losses.

What the hell is up with Egypt? Looks like the US will go out without a single win or draw.

You cannot possibly be serious.

Klinsmann, who took a legitimate top 5 team, at home, to the semis, and who has done nothing else to prove he can coach, is going to take us to the world cup.

I have just about hit my limit with Bradley, but to suggest that Cali Klinnsi would a significant improvement is ridiculous. He was our original target and wanted complete control over our entire national setup. The USSF balked at that and walked and now they will admit they were wrong and come groveling back to him?

Come on, you're better than that.

I did, and it was just atrocious from the beginning. They are flat out not a good team.

Some random thoughts I had during the game:
Do they even practice together?

Well, they've been together for about 2-3 weeks now, but I have no idea what the feck they're doing in that time. Freddy tweets they just sit around the hotel bored.

What the f&ck is their offensive strategy?

Uh, bunker and counter minus the skill and tactical discipline to properly execute it?

Do they know how to go to the ball-handler on defense instead of waiting for them to come to them?
Why do they insist on going for the long pass, which requires pinpoint precision, when they can't even master the short pass?
I wonder if they'll ever get through another game without allowing a goal in the first 7 minutes...nope, I guess not.

Nope, because Ching is a big intimidating presence to CONCACAF, and didn't Italy stay off until New Jersey's Finest tied it?

Donovan simply can't play with the big boys...he looks great against weak talent (read, MLS) but folds against good talent, except for PKs, but honestly if anyone on that team can't hit a PK they should be fired anyways

Eh, he's good in MLS, I thought he was one of the best players against Italy, but I will agree he doesn't show up against anyone in between

Two subs? We're a man down and you only sub twice? Really Bob? Starting Beasley was a mistake I don't think I can remember any announcer criticizing a player as badly as Harkes was on him today. Taking off Jozy for Feilhaber was not the choice I would have made, at that point we still may have had a chance to come back.

I have never been an Adu fan, but this was exactly the kind of game he should have been in. A fast, technical side where his physical shortcomings wouldn't be too noticeable.

I know Bob's our coach until July 2010, but I have hit my limit with him.

FIFA is debating whether or not to ban them for the World Cup. They don't even come close to being as annoying as those fvcking bang sticks that seem to permeate American football games.

I'd more ok with them as long as ESPN found some way to dampen the noise from the stadium. I'll stupidly go to turn up the announcers thinking I will hear less of the vuvus, but no, they get louder too. My main problem with them is that it is impossible to gauge crowd reaction. I can't tell if the fans are loudly supporting their team or criticizing it. On the other hand they are a part of South African sporting tradition and I can tolerate them for that reason when SA plays, but otherwise, please ESPN find a way to dampen the noise.

Also BigE, I recognize your handle from the Zone and I am seriously wondering why a VCU fan is on here.
