Cool. Maybe we'll have Polanco, Victorino, Oswalt, Madson, Blanton and Lidge back by then too.

Polanco has a bulging disk and IF he returns will be a shell of his self until off season surgery. Victorino will spike himself again, probably in a rush to eat some linguini with pineapple as he is a rare creature the hawaiiwop. Are those pitchers an upgrade over what you have now?

I would take Oswalt or Blanton over Kendrick. Worley has been a fine replacement starter. Madson will be good to have back. Lidge is expendable, IMHO, but who knows who else might get hurt? We might end up needing him.

Man, how good has Brian McCann been this year?

This series has lived up to the hype for the first two games.

Phils take the series with a 14-1 thumping of the Squaws! Ibanez continues his torrid July with 6 RBIs! :notworthy:

If there is one way to flip the teams with the best ERA in baseball it's to hang 14 runs on the other team. 20 hits, most in almost 2 years. Now its time to beat up on people after the break - Mutts/Cubies/Padres ain't gonna scare anyone.

Time to google "2011 World Series Game 1 Citizens Bank Park". I think it's almost time to stake my spot on Broad Street!

I hope that you are right. The Giants and Braves will be tough in the playoffs, hopefully they will face each other first (assuming they both make it) and then the Phils will only have to get past one of them.

Yep. Braves should have the wild card wrapped up and the Phils should have the best record. So, we just need the Giants to have more wins than the NL Central champ and it all falls into place nicely.

Honestly - and I like the Phillies - Phils fans have moved ever so close to Yankee/Red Sox fan levels... to the point that I want them to lose shamefully in the LDS to an upstart who barely makes the playoffs... just to humble them a bit. (yes, I realize this is EXACTLY how most people feel about NDSU - and not unjustifiably either)

You do realize this is a message board, right? People often embellish to get reactions.

Actually I agree with TwinTownBison. Philly has always been a big market city that played "small market" for years or rather decades. It was frustrating knowing that one of the "Gang of Eight" or however many people own the Phils is a multi-billionaire who is one of the richest guys in America.

It all changed when CBP was built, and like they say "if you build it, they will come". The place is sold out every night - longest streak in the majors, and fans around here now believe we are sitting at the same table with the Red Sox & the Yankees now. Honestly, it doesn't hurt when you see Ruben Amaro dominate the baseball world headlines the last 2 years: Trades for Roy Halladay, Cliff Lee and Roy Oswalt, and then steals Cliff Lee back right from under the Yankees & Rangers noses. It will be a major disappointment to Phils fans if they don't claim their 2nd WS in the last 4 years this fall, and frankly that's the same expectations Yankee & Redsox fans have. And we're just as obnoxious as those 2 cities fans, not anymore so, that's just the national media's portrayal.

So yeah TwinTown, you're probably right.
