1 - Obviously you haven't been paying attention to the revamp the Caps have gone through this year as a result
2 - Not sure which of the three goalies you have been watching, but all three of them have been stellar this year, especially in 2011. So much so that leaving any one of the three of the roster for the playoffs can be questioned. Varlamov 2.23 GAA, .924 save %; Neuvirth 2.49 GAA, .913 save %, Holtby (the goalie being left out of the playoffs for now) 1.79 GAA, .935 save %; 48-22-11 between the 3 of them.
Trying to decipher if that's a serious or a sarcastic response.
Yeah, mighta been a little jargoned (word?) in there...lots of numbers too...I confuse myself sometimes...
Point is that as it stands right NOW all 3 of their goaltenders are playing awesome. But all 3 of them are young, so there is always that chance that whoever plays could get the jitters and go soft in the playoffs.
Well, well, well... looks like I may have to eat my words. Canes are now in control of their own destiny in the East and Dallas is not out of this by any means. The Hawks have a home and home with the Wings left while the Stars get the Avs one more time and the Wild.
BTW, I would gladly eat my words too. I hate the Rangers and would love to see the Hawks not make the playoffs.

One other semi-interesting note. If my math is correct, if the Hawks were to beat the Wings in both games and the Coyotes were to drop one to the Sharks (also a home and home), and the Ducks drop one to the Kings (ALSO a home and home, WTF west?) , they would climb to the #6 seed and play... the Wings. Can't imagine two teams have faced each other twice to end the season and then meet in the first round.
THE hottest team in the NHL, the Carolina Hurricanes, are in control of their destiny. With a 6-1 demolishing of the Thrashers in Atlants, we're in 8th place, tied at 91 points with the Rangers, but have one more ROW.
The Canes are in if...
-The Devils beat the Rangers in regulation.
-The Canes beat the Lightning.
-The Rangers and Canes both get the same result on Saturday.
Nervous, but confident. I am positive we can beat the Caps in a 7-game series as we're peaking at the right time and have the perfect upset-minded team. Just one more game to get there.

East pairings are set:
1 Washington vs 8 Rangers
2 Philly vs 7 Buffalo
3 Boston vs 6 Montreal
4 Pittsburgh vs 5 Tampa Bay
West is still crazy (top 4 or set, bottom 4 are still in flux):
1 Vancouver
2 San Jose
3 Detroit
4 Anaheim
5 Nashville / Chicago
6 Nashville / Phoenix
7 Nashville / Phoenix / LA / Chicago
8 LA / Chicago / Dallas
Believe me, I don't like this match-up either, but it is what it is. Last four series the Flyers won all went only 5 games. Need to win both at home this week, but Flyers are 4-0-2 the last three seasons at Buffalo.
Gigantic win for the Caps last night. They outplayed the Rangers for much of the game, but couldn't put the puck in the net. Looked like it was going to be a big letdown, instead it turns into a huge win.

I loved the helmet flip by Booooooooooouch during the Sabres' late power play. Automatic faceoff and the ref bought it. Sabres fans were so pissed.
Also, am I the only person who now pronounces Sabres as Sob-rays ever since that episode on The Office where Michael butchers the pronunciation of Dunder Mifflin's new corporate master?

Wild night of hockey. Pens and Caps won deep in double OT. Flyers completely dominate play but can't crack the wall that is Ryan Miller, his second shutout of the series.
Was really hoping the Craps would lose and get their perennial choke job on track, but I suppose it's better for the league to have Vidav's countryman playing deeper into the tourney.
