U.S. beats Germany 1-0 in women's friendly

AUSGBURG, Germany (AP) - Abby Wambach scored for United States to beat world and European champion Germany 1-0 in Thursday's friendly.
Wambach scored for the Olympic gold medalists in the 34th minute after capitalizing on a defensive mistake by the Germans.
Germany had earlier wasted a half-dozen clear opportunities and dominated most of the match without breaching the U.S. defense.
Germany is the host of the 2011 World Cup. The match was played before a capacity crowd of 28,367 in the new Impuls Arena.
