"The Supreme Court on Monday declined to revive a lawsuit on behalf of Native American activists who claimed that the Washington Redskins' team name is so offensive that it does not deserve trademark protection.

The court without comment refused to get involved in the long-running dispute. The decision essentially lets stand a lower court ruling that the activists waited too long to bring the challenge."

So does that just about settle it?

We can only hope.

I await with baited breath the class action lawsuit brought on behalf of all animals humiliated by the use of their names/likeness, belittled by sports teams across the nation/world.

Lions and Bears will be first in line. Followed closely by the Marlins and Tigers (there are some solid Tiger programs out there).

The funny (and sad) thing is....if the Redskins were forced to change their name somehow, it would have made it that much easier for those fans who are fed up with Danny Boy's antics to just say "Fuck it, this makes my decision that much easier. I'm no longer a Redskins fan". :ohno:
