If you were forced to watch/be a fan of one, which would it be?

I just can't stomach all the crying and whining in soccer, and boxing is about as real as the NBA or WWE. :| :| :|

I cannot stand watching soccer. Hockey is fun to watch with all of the action and hitting. But to watch a ball get kicked back and forth, and back, and forth is just fucking irritating. Plus if someone gets touched they cry rape.

Soccer...well it just sucks. I hate that it is getting so much air time on ESPN, about 50 people fucking watch it...most of whom are probably anti-American liberals.

I love hockey on the other hand

Soccer...I personally love watching soccer, but I completely understand why other people don't (mainly the diving and the fact that sometimes the game is nothing more than keep away; when the latter occurs even I stop watching that particular match). I grew up playing soccer and have followed international soccer for years, so I have much more vested interest in certain clubs and players. I do love the fact that you can watch a soccer game in 2 hours flat, unless there is OT (which to me makes it even more exciting). I can't tell you the last time I sat down to watch an entire football/baseball/hockey/basketball game without changing the channel at least two dozen times because of all the stoppage in play/commercials. Not that there is anything wrong with a stoppage in play because we all need to time go grab a beer, take a dump, both, etc. :thumb: :thumb:

I enjoy watching hockey, but only the Caps

I don't enjoy watching boxing at all, although I certainly appreciate the sport and know I wouldn't last a minute in the ring with those fockers 8-)

If we're talking LIVE and in person, a Soccer match is still first on my list (prefereably a European match), followed by Hockey (I'll go see any professional hockey team play, not just the Caps) and then Boxing (unless you're ringside...I've only sat about halfway back from the ring, but I imagine that sitting ringside would be really cool). :twocents:

I can't watch organized keep away and can't stand Hockey either although it is keep away with hitting involved so I have to go with boxing as the lesser because it is just plain hitting and THAT I can go along with.

In person, I'd say boxing. A ton of fun and it really ramps up the testosterone levels watching 2 guys go all gladiator on each other. It's no wonder the Romans loved the gladiator games so much. A close second is monor league hockey. These guys don't have enough pure talent to play with the big boys, but the one thing they could bring to a proffesional team is hitting! They really put on a show, hoping that a recruiter is going to need a brawler at the next level. Soccer just sucks.

On TV, I think hockey is the only one I could sit all the way through.

Hockey is a great sport, it really is.

It is just hard to follow on TV.

Saw two games in DC while there a year or so ago....VERY exciting game in person. it's like watching PAINT dry on TV. They have GOT to find a way to get it to translate better to the tube.

You're exactly right. That is why NHL and minor league hockey arenas are full all over the country, and the TV ratings still suck a big one.

I can understand not watching soccer.
It is even more boring than baseball (and that's saying alot).
But I don't get what makes it "unamerican". That's just dumb.

100% agreement, but I don't know if you can. Part of what makes hockey great in person is the atmosphere in the arena. I love hockey games...there isn't much better than a good hockey games and a couple of beers. I don't know if you can translate that to the fat slobs at home, which is really sad. Rugby is the same way. If people would give rugby a chance it could be a top 2 or 3 sport in America, but people don't want to embrace it.

The same could be said for soccer, but playing keep away for 2 fucking hours is boring as fuck...no matter if you are in person or not.

It is just as unamerican as hockey (which has its' origins in Canada and Europe).
I do love the fact that people say soccer is a commie-sport...I wasn't aware that England was a communist nation.

I'll watch those 3, but bowling has to be the worst sport to watch, same with ESPN having poker on a sports network. :coffee:

Poker is not a sport.
Scrabble is not a sport.
Spelling bees are not a sport.
Auto racing is not a sport.

Walter Sobchak: OVER THE LINE!
Smokey: Huh?
Walter Sobchak: I'm sorry, Smokey. You were over the line, that's a foul.
Smokey: Bullshit. Mark it 8, Dude.
Walter Sobchak: Uh, excuse me. Mark it zero. Next frame.
Smokey: Bullshit, Walter. Mark it 8, Dude.
Walter Sobchak: Smokey, this is not 'Nam. This is bowling. There are rules.

FWIW, I have never played organized soccer. I played at UNI in a club league with a bunch of people who had played (high school all conference/all state and the like)...I had no fucking problem playing with them.

On the other hand I can ice skate decently, but I would get my ass handed to me by most 13 year old teams.
