In a game sorta reminiscent of yesterday's Montana win, the Montreal Alouettes erased a 16-pt 4th-quarter deficit to defeat the Saskatchewan Rough Riders 28-27 today at McMahon Stadium in Calgary. This makes me VERY happy because 13-yr CFL veteran OL Bryan Chiu is bringing a Grey Cup ring home to UOP.
This game was very important to FCS fans because of the sheer number of FCS athletes involved. Saskatchewan in particular was FCS-heavy when factoring in active roster, IR, and taxi squad. I apologize in advance if I misspelled your guy's name; I'm trying to read my own chicken scratch. Here goes:
Montreal
Active
Billy Parker DB William & Mary
Keron Williams DT UMASS
Danny Desriveaut SB Richmond
Injured Reserve
John Mohring LB Georgia Southern
Taxi Squad
Marco Thomas WR Western Illinois
Tyler Palco QB Pitt*
Saskatchewan
Active
Donovan Alexander DB North Dakota
Kitwana Jones DE Hampton
Chris Szarka RB Eastern Illinois
Renauld Williams LB Hofstra
Marcus Adams DT Eastern Kentucky
Clifton Walker OT Citadel
Gerran Walker WR Lehigh
Stevie Baggs DE Bethune-Cookman
Joe Sykes DE Southern
Injured Reserve
Weston Dressler SB North Dakota
Kye Stewart LB Illinois State
Wayne Smith OT Appalachian State
Jonathan St. Pierre OL Illinois State
Johnny Quinn WR North Texas
Michael Stadnyk DL Montana
Taxi Squad
Chris Jones WR Jackson State
Cole Bergquist QB Montana
Jeremy Gilchrist WR Hampton
Ladarius Key DB McNeese State
Brandon Lynch LB Middle Tennessee State
Joel Lipinski DB St. Mary's#
Vaalyn Jackson DL McNeese State
*Not FCS, but interesting nonetheless. Was listed as backup QB for Pittsburgh Steelers tonight, bringing up questions of whether or not he qualifies for Montreal's Grey Cup ring.
#Defunct program.
