Red Sox In Serious Discussions With Mike Cameron

Boston while wrapping up a deal with John Lackey are in serious negotiations with OF Mike Cameron. the discussions are for a 2 year deal to become atleast a platoon LF for Boston.

The Red Sox have moved on from Jason Bay after his agent said Bay had done the same.

Boston would be expected to atleast start the season with a platoon in left with Mike Cameron and Jeremy Hermedia, but how a season starts may not be how it ends, back in 2003 David Ortiz and Bill Mueller started the year as part time players for Boston and wound up as major pieces of a team that was within a idiotic non move by Grady Little of going to the World Series where they would have faced a Florida team they demolished in a June 27 game that year when Boston scored 14 first inning runs on their way to a 25 run outburst.

If Cameron comes aboard he could wind up playing more then just part time if he produces on the field and Hermedia doesnt.

I wonder if this signing could possibly lead to Ellsbury being traded with Buchholz for Adrian Gonzalez. Boston could still target Bay or Holliday to play left.

With Ryan Kalish coming along probably late 2010 as a Sept callup and then some bouncing around in 2011 he could be ready to take over CF when Camerons deal is up.
