Over this summer, I went to my local card shop and found a signed 8x10 pic of Nancy Lieberman during her playing days at ODU in the throw away bin for $1. It's probably the coolest (and luckiest) sport find of my life considering I actually go to ODU. It now sits in a frame in my dorm...next to my framed Chowan vs. ODU football ticket.

I've got a ticket to game one of the 2001 WS. I've also got a ticket to the first game in Diamondbacks history. Also have a ticket to the US Open at Bethpage Black from 2002.

My favorite item is my certificate signed by Dale Earnhardt from when I won a contest to ride with him in a stock car (at speed) around Dover Downs in 1980. I was nine; best day of my sports-fan life.

I have autographed photos of me with all of the Purple People Eaters, and most of the Vikings between the years of 1995-1999

I also have autographed photos of Jerry Rice, Deon Sanders, and a bunch of former Minnesota Twins players.

And about 15k baseball, basketball, football, hockey cards.

Going to an auction Monday night. Approx 250 sports items up for sale. I'm going early Monday to view the items. I think they take phone in bids if you find anything you are interested in. Here is the link. The main sports lots start at about #245.

Host Pulls Poster After Complaints,
The NCAA News, November 13, 1989

Georgia Southern College has stopped local distribution of an NCAA poster promoting the Division I-AA Football Championship, to be played December 16 at Stateshoro, Georgia, because of complaints that it had racial undertones.

Georgia Southern President Nick Henry caved to pressure from the extremely small group of individuals that complained, and he mandated the college immediately stop distributing the posters. The National Championship was not affected and "The Drive to Dixie" was played on December 16th, with host Georgia Southern defeating Stephen F. Austin University 37-34.

Today, almost twenty years later, copies of "The Drive to Dixie" promotional poster and game program have become much sought after collectors' items. Original copies of the poster have been sold for more than $400 through on-line auctions, and color reproductions (marked as reproductions) have sold for more than $200 each.

"Then he grabbed a monkey wrench, heaved a mighty swing, missing the tuna can completely but hitting the head dead center," Johnson wrote. "Tiny pieces of frozen head sprayed around the room."
