Well the Skins did what everyone expected, firing Zorn and staff. Problem is they still have Snyder as their owner.

And they will still suck as long as Snyder meddles

I think one of their biggest problems is lack of a quality QB.

Of course that is after Snyder but should still be in the top 5 problems list.

Snyder owns the Redskins...getting rid of him isn't really an option

I was going to post the same thing. The best the 'Skins can hope is that Snyder learns to get out of the way and let "football" people run the team.

Everyone around here knows that the lack of a quality O-line is their biggest problem. Campbell has actually played fairly decently (most of the time) considering he has a JV high school team equivalent blocking for him. His numbers actually back that up (there was an article written recently about his stats against other QBs in the league and he was near the top in just about all major categories, and he has improved his numbers every single year). But that doesn't mean a whole lot if you're getting your face shoved up your ass a couple dozen times each sunday.

Can still hope he sells the team or doesn't try to be Jerry Jr.

I think the first step MIGHT, just might, be the hiring of Bruce Allen. MIGHT.

We'll know in the next few years if that turns out to be the case.

If the Skins use their top draft pick to draft a QB (such as that Sally with glass bones from Oklahoma), then we know Snyder is still pulling strings.

If the Skins use their top draft pick to draft an O-lineman, then we know that Allen has a good amount of say.

It just MIGHT be a step in the right direction.

MIGHT.

Top 5 problems are clearly:

1. Snyder
2. Allen/Finding a good headcoach
3. QB
4. O-Line
5. Safety
I think there is little chance of him selling the team. Also, if he sells you might get another bad owner. At least Snyder spends money, he wants to win. If I were a 'Skins fan, I'd rather see Snyder take a hands off approach than sell the team. :twocents:

I think that is what alot of people outside the Redskins circle don't realize...he wants to win. :thumb: BAD.
He isn't a complete dummy...a dummy wouldn't have the know-how to own an NFL franchise. You have to think that eventually he will figure out that his job is to just sign the paychecks, not determine who they paychecks are for. I hope.... ;)

Snyder isn't going anywhere for a long long time. The offensive line is in shambles. They have gone through 6 right guards alone this year. SIX!

They need to trade their first round pick, accumulate more 2nd and 3rd round picks and go o-line heavy. If they can improve that, the offense would be good to go. The problem with Campbell is that he isn't a west coast offense QB and Zorn tried to force him to be one. He was so afraid of throwing interceptions he'd take a sack instead. If he can get over that, with protection, he'd be above average.

Was really funny last year when they were playing the Ravens and had both of their tackles go down - they replaced Chris Samuels with a back-up centre, prompting Terrell Suggs to turn to Zorn on the sidelines and yell 'You can't do this, you're going to get your quarterback hurt" and "'I don't think this guy is supposed to be here. You've got a mistake." And then he promptly warped around end and face-planted Campbell...
http://voices.washingtonpost.com/dcspor ... ce_ni.html

But the Skins really made the right first step when they replaced Cerrato. Snyder wants to win badly, if Allen can get him to tone down a bit and let him make personnel decisions reasonably independently (meaning - rebuilding for 2011) then they have a chance. But I'll see it when I believe it...

Campbell is definitely a starter in the NFL...

... Redskins pick 4th this year? If they draft Claussen (I'm assuming the Rams will take Bradford), I'd abandon all hope for the 2010 season. If the Skins are smart, they will take Russel Okung for their O-line or if still available, take Eric Berry... if they are drafting ahead of the Chiefs, at least one of those two should be around. Perhaps they can dump C-Po or some of the other Skins "baggage" and get a couple of draft picks for them/fill in the missing gaps. Then again, the O-Line may have had an affect on Portis's production this year... not that much though.

That depends on if next season goes uncapped....if it does, then they can dump CP. I think otherwise he'd cost them about $8M. They also need to dump Randle El, not sure what his salary cap hit would be though.

Oh God, here we go about a thousand posts deep on daSkinz...

BTW, what's the problem with ARE? Versatile guy - kinda nice to have someone like him around as an emergency QB, what with the line problems and all...

He can't return kicks/punts anymore, and he can't catch very well anymore. Time to let the old man go.

Spot on...Tom Brady would not be a success if he had the O-line that the 'Skins have...neither would Manning or Farve...

Number one priority for the 'Skins IMHO is the o-line...

After that...someone smarter than I can say...but it is very obvious that the O-Line has not protected Campbell, and that has caused his QB numbers to be askew...

Campbell is not a top 5 QB...but he does possess the skills to be a starting QB in the NFL...with a little protection...

Not top 5 but he could definately be in the 7-15 range. He is a vertical passer, not a dink dink west coast type guy.

I hate the west coast offense.

Me too. It worked when the Niners had Joe Montana, one of the greatest QB's of all time; Jerry Rice, the greatest WR of all time; and John Taylor, A WR who was great at accumulating yards after catch. Other teams try and copy it, but they lack the right pieces to make it work.

The Eagles run it, but McNabb is not accurate enough to be a short range passer (with his skill set he should run the same offense as John Elway). The Eagles have also tried to run it for many years with mediocre WR's.

I suppose I stand corrected, I guess the OLine might be major problem #1.

But do you really use a top pick on a Trent Williams? With Safety problems do you pass up a few good Safeties?

If Okung is available when they pick its easy, but who knows if he will be available. I do think drafting Claussen is not a good idea.

I really don't have a problem with Landry, I'd want a new CB before a new SS. The problem with the '09 Redskins was not the defense.

I like how Kelly and Thomas (or as my Dad calls them #11 and #12) progressed towards the end of the season at WR.
