Seeing how the other site has gone to that great message board place in the sky, we'll need somewhere else to keep track of them 'Fightin Phils. :thumb:

C'mon, Hamels! Get your act together!

And did you see Joe Blanton's asking price for arbitration?

Yeah, Blanton actually stands a good chance of losing in arbitration with that asking price. He better hope they can come to a settlement before arbitration.

Uncle Charlie is looking lean and mean these days and ready to charge the Phillies forward into 2010 season in a quest for a third consecutive National League pennant and second World Series Championship ring!

Nice! Looks like he's getting back into fighting shape. In case Raul gets injured in LF this season, we got Charlie to back him up!

Blanton came to his senses and signed a 3-year $24 million extension today. :thumb:

Nice.
I think the Phils are still negotiating with Victorino and Ruiz. The good news is that they aren't nearly as far apart as the Phils and Blanton were, so I think they will work something out.

Nice job tying up Blanton for 3 years. He's always good for a lot of innings and he's certainly a legitimately quality #3 starter in this league. And yes, it's good that Blanton realized the error in the number they submitted for arbitration - he was never going to win an arbitration case asking for $10.25M.

I really like both of those guys. Ruiz ("Senor Octobre") is really coming into his own as an all-around good catcher: calling good games, throwing out runners, and blocking the plate.

I think Ruiz was asking for about 2.25 million, and the team was offering about 1.5 million. The two sides aren't that far apart, and even 2.25 seems reasonable to me.

The Phils have signed Victorino to a 3 year - 22 million dollar deal. :thumb: I expect that they'll have Ruiz signed very soon.

Since I kinda/sorta live in Clearwater now, I guess I'll try to catch the Phils during Spring Training.

No surprise that the Phils are skipping arbitration with these guys - the Phils hardly ever go that route. And really, other than Blanton, they weren't far apart with the other two anyway. Certainly think we'll hear Ruiz's new contract soon as well.

Nice thing about the Blanton contract - the Phils know who 4 of their starting rotation are through 2012 - Halladay, Hamels, Blanton, and Happ. Not too shabby.

Considering nurtisystem was founded by a St. Joe's grad, the over/under on when Charlie gains the weight back is two years.

Well, if that's the case, at least we can rest easy about the accuracy of the financial records for Nutrisystem then - I mean, there's no way they'd hire a nova accounting grad.

No shit. We're still 20 days from pitchers and catchers reporting, and CM is already on the hotseat. Funny.
