Best Winter Olympic Event

I've always admired the alpine skiers--requires strength, fitness, agility, skill, it's dangerous, and visually compelling. Also, its not screwed up by refs or judges--a guy (or gal), a mountain, and a finish line. Ski jumping also cool, and there's SOMETHING catchy to me about (would you believe?) . . . curling.
What's your favorite Winter Olympic event, and why?

I'd have to say alpine skiing, followed closely by hockey (I have a thing for international team sports).

Also, it kills me that the winter olympics will be within 600 miles of where I live for the second time in 8 years, and I won't be able to go.

Olympic Hockey is great.

Most of the other winter olympic stuff is really lame IMO. Skating, and skiing....boring.

I love luge, bobsled, skeleton, and the skiing and snowboarding. The rest I have little interest in, although speed skating will get my attention every now and then

Not suprised we're not seeing any love for trekking around on skis all afternoon, stopping occasionally to shoot something. That one's just strange. :ohno:

Appolo Anton Ohno    would be nice if the South Koreans could actually find decent short trackers who are actually cute. :coffee:

I think it's pretty cool, and I think it's based on how people in Nordic countries used to hunt. :ugeek:

I like it all except Cross-country skiing, the Biathlon (skiing/shooting) and figure skating. And I'm sure there are some other really gay events that don't get much airtime.

I really don't love any of these events, but at the same time I find myself, for two weeks, enjoying the freshness of watching them. And then, just about when the Olympics are over, I grow weary of watching them. Funny how 4 years in between Olympics is just about the right amount of time to want to watch some of these things again.

I'm with Grizalltheway. I love the alpine skiing and hockey. Bobsled too. I will always watch womens figure skating hoping one day their little dress will fall off or get torn open by their skate.

Wardrobe malfunction? We've already had that. Busted shoelace followed by display of said shoelace to the judges accompanied by the worst case of tears anyone's ever seen at an Olympic Games.
