Wow! Quick winter. 8-9 year old girls lacrosse try-outs this Sunday! My Libby(3rd grade) is all excited. Guess I better register them both so I can coach up another Pinky level team((K-1st graders).

I love me some LAX!

My oldest little guy (1 of 3 boys) has to wait another year before he plays lacrosse. Gotta be 1st grade where I am to play. They still have the sticks though, and my 4 year old loves to play D and whack the crap out of the older one with the stick. He even gets the ball every now and then.

It took two years of watching girls play to get the urge not to see them elbow stick check. I played defense in HS. And abused some elbows in my day.

This will be my 7 year olds THIRD year in Pinky. She has a late birthday in October and is very tall for her grade. Shes the same size as her older sister who is two grades ahead of her. I basically have twins The cut of for birthdays was September, so she was one months short, so we talked the club commissioner into letting her play. She was ready. We thought about doing the same thing with the youngest, she's in the exact same age situation, but she isn't ready.

We let our 4 y/o play soccer this past summer - he missed the age cutoff by a month but he's pretty solidly built and he had a chance to play on the team with his older brother so we let it happen. Worked out just fine, but I have no problem waiting on everything else. Once my older son tries lacrosse he's going to still be playing baseball (he really liked that) so for a season we'll be doing lacrosse and baseball concurrently (plus the 4 year old will be old enough then to play t-ball so that will be 3 teams in one season with just the two older boys - the youngest is only 1 right now so he's not playing anything anytime soon).

I just signed Cobblepebble up for lacrosse for this coming spring. I went to a second hand sporting goods store and got a great package deal on gear. I also bought him a net so he can at least get started on the basics before practice starts. I wish I knew something about the game but when I was in high school lacrosse was basically a town in Wisconsin for all we knew. I bought a lacrosse book and have found some very good websites on the sport so I'm learning. I have to say that if we had it in high school that I would have certainly played it.

Boston has a pro indoor lacrosse team in the NLL (Boston Blazers) and I just ordered some tickets for a game. From what I've seen on YOUTUBE of their games it looks pretty intense with plenty of good checking. I'm looking forward to all of it. Hopefully lacrosse will really catch on in this country. I'd also like to see it become an Olympic sport. It looks that good to me.

Andy, when NCAA Lax starts could you post the ranking on the other college sports board here? Go Johns Hopkins!

Everyone I meet from outside of Baltimore loves the Blue Jays :ohno: , everyone in
Maryland hates them for what they are. MF'ers!

Cobblestone, I know of a couple books. I bought one (a book) last year because I coached my daughter and need the help. Girls don't work the elbow like I did.

You'll never meet anyone in Albany that likes Hopkins.

True Hopkins fans are like a snooty, over priveledged version of Cowboys fans.

The vast majority of Blue Jay fans are the kind of fan who think its a new and different sport that is fun to watch and the school name is a different one. Nothing wrong with that at all. I'm not bashing those kind of fans, I'm just trying to educate them to the fact that they are the lacrosse equivalent to Duke basketball.
