Not sure I've ever seen one point separate 8 teams this late into the season. Post-Olympics is going to be a shootout for the three remaining playoff spots.

I was looking at this yesterday in the paper. I seem to rememer that one of these teams has played 3 games less than some of the others? Definitely gives them an advantage.
Of course, the Caps are on a fucking roll right now

They also only have 2 wins out of the last 8. Hopefully those 3 games in hand can garner at least a couple points.

Flyers. They've somehow been behind in games all year.

Because the other teams are scoring more goals than they are?

Talking about number of games played. They Flyers have played fewer games than just about everyone... sometimes as many as 3-4 game fewer.

The Penguins played in Montreal yesterday, but due to the weather, they weren't able to fly into Washington DC, so they had to fly into Newark, and bus to DC, arriving around 2:30 a.m.
And their game today against the Capitals just started at noon (eastern). That's quite a tough turnaround.

Yep, setting themselves up for a pretty epic choke in the playoffs.

Well that sucked.
At least it was a fun game to watch (for the most part), and Pittsburgh salvages 1 point in the standings for taking it to OT.

No, the first period was awesome, and the second period wasn't bad.
Third period and OT sucked, though.

Just the best team in the league with the best player on the planet showing people how it's done
Overheard in the locker room after that game...
"Crosby is a bitch...no uh, how you say....Crosby is my bitch" - Ovechkin

So far...cuz everyone knows Ovie is all but guaranteed to win it for the third straight time this year.
BUT...we're talking about this season. Best player on the planet playing for the best team in the league.

Ovie is the best athlete in all of sports. Just dominant.

Caps are 16 and 1 since he took over as Captain - he went mano-a-mano against Canada's best player and sent him packing with his manicured tail tucked between his legs. He's the 2-time reigning MVP, leads in goals, points, +/- (all while having played fewer games due to injury/suspension), and his team's on a 14 game winning streak.
So ok maybe "best athlete in all of sports" is a bit over the top, but he's easily as dominant an athlete in his sport as there is, and in the next couple of weeks can prove it to the world.
Who would you nominate as the best athlete in all of sports, in the category of dominance?

Caps are a good team this year, and are certainly on a hot streak right now. I'll not deny that.
And Ovechkin is definitely a good player (even though he plays dirty at times).
Though I'd hardly say that he sent Crosby (at least I'm assuming that is who you are referring to) "packing with his tail tucked between his legs". It was an OT win at home against a team that was probably fatigued from playing the day before and from facing travel issues. And that other player had scored two goals himself.
Washington deserves the win, but I'd hardly call it domination in that game. (plus if I recall, the Ovechkin line was usually out against the Malkin line, not the Crosby line, so I don't know how much "mano-a-mano" really went on, but that's a technicality)
I'll wait until the playoffs to see who is the best team again, as I'm guessing they'll probably meet in the second round (possibly later)
