Kurt Warner retires
Re: Kurt Warner retires
Good for him - he got a ring and got close over the last two years while keeping a Heismann winner on the bench. Not bad for a guy 38 years old.
Of course, retiring at 38 wouldn't be so bad, either.......

Not to derail (that's your job, bandl) but I wonder what LT will do - heard some speculation he might be done.

Re: Kurt Warner retires
Warner is my favorite pro football player of all time.
Not only a great player, but I admire his character and dedication to the Faith/Family/Football philosophy.
(I, personally, am not necessarily all that involved in Faith, Family, or even Football (other than just being a fan), but I still admire him for it).
I thought the press conference was well done, and well spoken also.
I don't think he'll be coming back, at least not as a player.
And I don't see him getting into any coaching job (at least not for a while), as I get the feeling that he wants to spend more time with his family, or working on his charities and whatnot. Though he could pick up some involvement with TV or something (where there isn't as many time demands as a coaching job would entail)

LT won't be back with the Chargers.
Dback I've been watching the NFL since the 1983 playoffs. before Warner the Cardinals made the playoffs 1 time in that span. With Warner 2 years in a row.

Kurt Warner >> Brett Fav-rah.
Kurt will NOT be back. He's not a waffler like Fav-rah. Hell, it's probably even money that Fav-rah will skip training camp and play ANOTHER year.
I like Warner, but it was time. We need to know what we've got in Leinart, and the future is now!

SB titles 1-1
MVP 3-2 Favre>Warner
every stat and games played Favre>Warner
plus Warner sat behind Eli
Favre had better numbers with shittier WRs. The only place (NYG) Warner lacked in WRs is the place where he struggled.
Favre also had better #s this year. Just because he's a glory hog and Warner is a good guy doesn't make him better.

I'd like to see Farve come back for one more year...this time with the Cards!

Re: Kurt Warner retires
Warner would have had better numbers (and fewer injuries) if the officials had babied him like they do for Farve. Every time Brett was tackled, the officials threw the flag, or the NFL issues statements afterwards saying that the officials SHOULD have thrown flags.
It is getting dumb:
can't hit QBs high
can't hit QBs low
can't hit QBs in the middle
can't grab their jerseys
can't even lightly touch their helmets.....

Also ESPN has the do you think Warner is a HOFer poll. Favre doesn't need one. No doubt 1st ballot
I think Warner is a HOFer too, 1st ballot? its possible.

Re: Kurt Warner retires
I disagree. Favre has better numbers because he played a lot longer. Warner has much better post season numbers, including several Super Bowl records. Favre is a great QB, but if I had a choice between Favre at the top of his game or Warner at the top of his, I'll take Warner. Warner didn't throw interceptions in key moments like Favre does.Fresno St. Alum wrote:Favre> WarnerAZGrizFan wrote:Kurt Warner >> Brett Fav-rah.

Cards straight to the torlet.
Unless Whisenhunt begs KW to come back during training camp.

SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.
Re: Kurt Warner retires
If they can hold onto their receivers (and keep them healthy), improve their o-line a little, and maybe improve a little on defense, with an average QB, they may be able to stay in the middle of the pack (which means they could contend for their division again. haha).SuperHornet wrote:Cards straight to the torlet.

But that is alot of 'ifs', and I'm not sure if Leinart qualifies as good enough to be an "average QB"

No Ken Wisenhunt-coached team is going into the torlet any time soon.

Fortunately they play in the NFC west. I wouldn't be suprised to see the Cards win the division again next year.SuperHornet wrote:Cards straight to the torlet.

Re: Kurt Warner retires
Warner's a douche sickle, and secretly likes his ass reamed (rumor, butt I believe it). Maybe the Tardnels will get Timmy Teabag to replace him.
End of story.

End of story.
