What will his impact be? Is he worth $250 million? I'm not a big soccer fan, but even I am interested to see his impact on the MLS. Your thoughts?

He's 32, which is pretty old for a soccer player, but it's not like he's terrible. After how well he played for Real Madrid in the second half of the season (leading them to the Spanish League title) they were practically begging him to stay. By this logic he'll probably be one of the, if not the best player in MLS. He's not a great goal-scorer, but he's still pretty lethal on crosses and free kicks. I think this could actually lead to most Americans losing whatever interest they had in him in the first place, since most people don't understand the intricacies of the game, and only want to see him score.lifesapuntreturn wrote:He's about washed up when it comes to his on-field productivity, isn't he? Or at least not anywhere near the player he once was. Sounds to me like it's a last gasp effort on the part of pro soccer in the USA to buy the attention they can't get via the product they put on the field. The USA public just doesn't care about pro soccer. The rest of the world plays and cares about soccer. We play and care about football.
From their personal standpoint, it's no surprise he and the entertainer wife are in the celeb capital of the world, where they'll get all the attention they want and a lot of money to be there. Smart business move on their part.

Posh's reality show about coming to the US was so bad, NBC made it an hour program and the entertainment media have been vicious after the media screenings. A number of entertainment gossip blogs have been reporting that LA's creme de la creme has been less than hospitable to Posh as well. At her first big Hollywood house party, she was given the number of a plastic surgeon "who can do something with your nose." Beck's Galaxy teammates, who are paid very little, have expressed some resentment toward the attention and money he is getting.AppGuy04 wrote:What backlash? I can understand the other players being upset, but the nose job crap is just LA, thats too be expected, and well, the media will be the media. Won't be the last time a bad TV show gets plastered by them.CitadelGrad wrote:Posh's reality show about coming to the US was so bad, NBC made it an hour program and the entertainment media have been vicious after the media screenings.
