Thomas was one of my favorite baseball players growing up and I remember watching Glavine pitch the year the Braves won the World Series.

Frank Thomas:
521 career HRs (18th all time)
1,701 RBIs
.301 career AVG
.419 OBP
.555 SLG
Batting Champion, Five time All Star, two time AL MVP

Tom Glavine:
305 Wins (23rd all time)
3.54 ERA
2607 SO
1.314 WHIP
2 Cy youngs, ten times All Star, World Series MVP

First ballot hall of famers?

They should both be first ballot HOF'ers, but I think only Glavine will be.

I met Frank Thomas after a game working at a bar across the street from Camden Yards.

That is my feeling as well.

Why don't you think Thomas will be? There's never been a hint of steroid allegations against him....he's been that big since the day he got into baseball....

Personally, it'd be a shame if he's NOT in and a tainted player IS.

I think they're saying he won't be a "first ballot" hall of famer. He will definitely get it, no doubt about it, but the question is whether the voters will put him in on the first ballot. You know, all that gripe about certain historical players who didn't get in on their first try so why should I vote for this guy bit?

Thomas was a great player whose numbers are even more impressive since he put them up while playing clean during the steroid era. He does have a couple of knocks against him though. One, he was surly with the media. Two, he had a reputation as a me first guy who tended to pout when things didn't go his way. Both of those could work against him being elected on the first ballot.
