looks great for a spring training facility. The Park of Palms is not that great, so this will be a nice upgrade. Hopefully its in a better part of town.

The biggest advantage is to have everythng together. Currently their trainign facility is a few miles from their stadium.. as can be seen, it will all be together at the new place.dgreco wrote:looks great for a spring training facility. They are staying in Ft Myers, right? Last time I was down there people were questioning the wisdom of having the local government pay so much of the bill, and that was before SW Florida just collapsed along with the housing market.

You guys are correct, the Sox are staying in Ft Myers, moving to the side of town we stay in. My parents live in Pelican Preserve (go north 5 minutes on the above map), so I'm loving the new location, it'll be closer than the Twinkies park now.
They picked a great location, close to the airport, close to 75, plenty of "non-shady" places to go after the game, which is something you can't say about where City of Palms is located.
2012 can't come soon enough.
