Bob Johnson's statement:

Robert L. Johnson, the majority owner of Bobcats Sports and Entertainment today announced that he has signed a definitive agreement to sell majority interest of Bobcats Sports and Entertainment to Michael Jordan and MJ Basketball Holdings, LLC. The deal is subject to NBA approval. Further details of the sale will be provided by the NBA.

Just a blurb on http://www.charlotteobserver.com/ so far but it looks like it's a done deal.

How quickly til MJ changes the name? One can hope.

Anything other than the Bobcats. They're called the Bobcats because of Bob Johnson. He (will soon) no longer own the team, why should they still be named after that ego-maniacal douche? Just my

One of the options, before settling on the Bobcats, was the Charlotte Flight. I'll take that, but some of think we should be the Charlotte Bankers, and have the little Monopoly guy as the mascot.

Why not just call them the Charlotte Jordans? There's precedent for that in the NFL.

Call em the Jordanaires. I was a fan of the name Flight when it was considered. Considering MJ's aerial prowess there are two angles to that name now. Bob'sCats...really?

He can also call them the Jordaneers if he wants.

The Bobcats name doesn't bother me anymore. I think the name goes okay with the Panthers for the feline theme. I also like the logos, colors and uniforms (especially after adding the pin stripes).

It'd just be nice if they could put together a television deal where I could actually SEE a game.
