“Well, you know, it’s close to home. I like the uniforms. You get to play against Atlanta twice a year. Ain’t nothing better than playing against your former team, right? So, yeah, that would be a good look, it would be a good look.”
Anybody that knows me knows that I am a Panthers superfan. If Michael Vick is signed by the Panthers - I will officially cease to be a Panthers fan. I absolutely, positively do not want this asshole anywhere near my favorite team.

I've been a longtime fan, but Delhomme's a bum, Moore is subpar, Peppers is gone, Smith is nothing without somebody to get the ball to him - why not? I hate Vick too, but the Panthers need an injection of something to get the ship righted. I'd personally rather see someone like Leinart get traded to the Panthers, but it looks like his day in Arizona might be coming soon. Maybe some local kid from an NC school would fit the bill...

I'm cool with the Panthers drafting Armanti. I'm cool with them signing McNabb if Philly lets him go (I've heard rumors that the Eagles are about as close to letting him go as they ever have been). I can't really think of anyone but Michael Vick that I'd be pissed about the Panthers signing.
I was hoping the Chiefs would trade Thigpen to the Panthers last season when he was up for grabs. Would really love to see him get a shot with a team that actually has some semblance of an offensive line.

Which is the likely Rx from most Carolina fans. If Vick thinks he'll be welcomed back with open arms, I'm sure he has another think coming.
They'd be better off signing the next ECU grad (or substitute any NC football-playing institution) available, at least in terms of butts in the seats. If they sign Vick, they'll likely signal the return of the '70s-'80s era 'Aint's fans with a new jersey.

Michael Vick is maybe the most overrated athlete of all time along with Mike Tyson. Just a terrible QB.

Not so sure about that. Would YOU fight Tyson? Particularly in his prime? Certainly washed up now, but there was a danger of just about ANY Tyson opponent ending up like Duk Ku Kim (though that was done by Ray "Boom Boom" Mancini, if I remember right).
And I can think of several football players who came out with as much or more hype than Vick and done worse. Ryan Leaf, that tackle for the Packers we were discussing a couple of weeks ago, etc. One could also throw Ralph Sampson and Michael Olowokandi (ouch!) into the mix if one wants to continue mixing sports.
The point is that Vick has done fairly well athletically, even if he hasn't lived up to his potential. A conviction of moral turpitude doesn't overshadow that. Makes him slime, maybe. But it doesn't make him an athletic flop. And even at that, there are signs that Vick is mending his ways. There IS something to be said for forgiveness....

I was thinking the Raiders or the Bengals, since those two teams seem to have the highest concentrations of criminals in the NFL.

Tyson fought in the weakest era of HW boxing ever. He fought two good fighters his entire career, and was KTFO by both. Not to mention all the tomato cans that knocked him out.
