McGuire met King several years ago at a Cardinals baseball game when a friendly conversation arose and King found himself more interested in the stories he heard from the young stranger then he did of the game.
Since then King has kept his readers updated on McGuire's missions in Iraq and Afghanistan.
A couple weeks ago King sent out a small request for his readers. McGuire and his company are preparing for another deployment to Afghanistan soon and his company will build a basic base in a remote area with little in terms of luxury. The task was simple, to raise enough money ($20,000) for a mini-recreation center with video games and weight equipment for the men of McGuire's company.
A short few weeks later and King's readers have supplied 7 of this recreation centers for McGuire's company and six others in remote areas of Afghanistan and Iraq.
