Cardinals: NFC West Champs, beat Packers in the playoffs after going to the Super Bowl last year.
Coyotes: 2nd best record in NHL, winners of 11 of their last 12, all after bankruptcy, possible move, and a coaching change.
Suns: Season high 6-game winning streak, they've already matched last year's win total; 1/2 game out of 2nd in the West, poised for a deep run in the playoffs...
ASU Baseball: #1 ranked in America, 22-0, just broke a 49 year old record for best start to a season
Phoenix Mercury: WNBA Champs
Diamondbacks: ????? Who knows...
Hows your local teams doing (as a group)??

Red Sox: Reigning AL Wild Card (7 Time World Champions)
Patriots: AFC East Champions (3 Time World Champions)
Celtics: Atlantic Division Champions (17 Time World Champions)
Bruins: Limping into playoffs (5 Time World Champion, 12 Time Runner Up)
Revs: 0-1 (4 Time Runner Up In 14 All Time MLS Cups)
And remember Curt had to leave Arizona to win a second ring...
But hey we can all agree on this. Everyone is better then NY

I only have two to choose from. Savannah sand gnats second to last in the southern division. And good old Savannah State.

The Capitals are the #1 team in the NHL... I'm not sure there are any other pro sports teams here.

I'd like to claim Sacred City, but I find no justification for that. Kings whomp. The bloody Maloofs dumped the only decent "mainstream" pro team in town, the Monarchs. The four-time world champion Sirens are probably the best team in town, though one could claim the Sac High Dragons, whose GBB team lost twice to eventual D-III state champs (and national #1) Stockton-St. Mary's. The Sacred City Sacrificers roller derby team are actually located in ROSEVILLE, so that might not count. Hornet gymnastics is a regional power, and the volleyball team was a Big Sky powerhouse until recently. The track teams are pretty good even with poor schollie support.
But to compare any of that to what just the Cards did last year? Not a chance.

#1 playing most of their games in a top heavy Eastern Conference.

East is 113-117 vs the West. Big difference.

Nuggets: Currently leading the Northwest Division, #3 in the West
Broncos: Went 8-8...but I don't claim them.
Rockies: Took the NL Wild Card in '09 and prohibitive favorites for the NL West in '10
Avalanche: Currently fighting for the last playoff spot in the West
UNC Football: Lousy
UNC Basketball: Won a school-record 25 games this season

Yep, things have gotten pretty bad around here, sportswise, though I think the Rays would have a fighting chance if the played in any other division in baseball.

How many times have the Suns had the best record in the west, scored the most points, and then fallen flat on their faces when they face a team in the playoffs that actually plays defense?

East is 113-117 vs the West. Big difference.
13 of 15 Western teams have winning records against the East, and the other 2 teams are 7-9-2 against the East.
I got a different number from the NHL site, more like a 60 win difference in the West vs East records.
Chicago Blackhawks 10-5-2
Nashville Predators 11-4-2
Detroit Red Wings 9-5-3
St Louis Blues 9-7-2
Columbus Blue Jackets 7-6-3
Vancouver Canucks 13-5-0
Colorado Avalanche 12-5-1
Calgary Flames 11-5-2
Minnesota Wild 10-4-4
Edmonton Oilers 7-9-2
San Jose Sharks 12-4-2
Phoenix Coyotes 11-6-1
Los Angeles Kings 14-4-0
Dallas Stars 7-9-2
Anaheim Ducks 9-7-2
