Re: MAJOR LEAGUE SOCCER
So is this now the general MLS 2010 thread?
Whatever, MLS just expanded the DP "Beckham" rule - teams now have two guaranteed slots, instead of one, with the option to buy a third and pay a luxury tax on that one. Teams can't trade slots anymore, with changes effective immediately. Especially with the WC upcoming, this is big, big news for MLS

Re: MAJOR LEAGUE SOCCER
The Philadelphia Union are set to play in front of their home fans for the first time as they wait for their new stadium to open.
The expansion Union make their home debut Saturday night when they meet winless D.C. United at Lincoln Financial Field.
Philadelphia (0-1-0) will make its debut at soccer-specific PPL Park on June 27 against Seattle. With the stadium not ready, the Union will play their first two home games at Lincoln Financial Field.
Vice President Joe Biden will be in attendance Saturday, and Philadelphia is anxious to put on a good show for its supporters - including the Sons of Ben fan group that was instrumental in the city being awarded a franchise.

About 35,00 people showed up to the first Union game
Re: MAJOR LEAGUE SOCCER
Yeah and Letoux who had something like 1 goal in 30 games puts in a hat trick on us. Perkins was totally at fault for the first and third goals, but at least Moreno made Seitz look like an idiot (3:25 in):

And WHY we lost the game....we gave up way too much for a goalie who's right now a downgrade from Wicks:

The Houston Dynamo have a deal in place for a new stadium to be built and ready for use in April 2012.
Harris County commissioners unanimously approved an agreement Tuesday for a 20,000-seat stadium in partnership with the Major League Soccer team and the city of Houston. The proposal for the $95 million project had been approved last week by Houston City Council.
As part of the agreement, Texas Southern University will use the stadium for its home football games.

Re: MAJOR LEAGUE SOCCER
DC United just resigned Emilio today after letting him go preseason. Even less midfield than last year means less service and that isn't how you use a poacher like him. Another desperation signing from a FO that has completely lost it - Kasper needs to go.

The three clubs play for the Nutrilite Canadian Championship won by Toronto last year.
The tournament features the three professional teams in Canada in a home and away series with the top team winning entry into the qualifying stage of the CONCACAF Champions League. This will be the format for at least the first three seasons. It may expand if further Canadian teams join MLS or the USL First Division.

Its official: MTL 2012
IT'S OFFICIAL
http://www.montrealmls2012.com/
After months of negotiations, MLS Commissioner Don Garber announced in Montreal on Friday that Canada’s second-largest city will become home to the league’s 19th franchise, to begin play in the 2012 season.
Joey Saputo, owner of the USSF D2 Montreal Impact, will also assume ownership of the expansion team, which will play at a newly renovated Saputo Stadium. The natural-grass venue will undergo approximately US$22 million in expansion to accommodate crowds of 20,000, some 7,000 more than its current capacity.
Additionally, the new team will play a select number of games at nearby Olympic Stadium, the 66,000-seat venue that once was home to the Montreal Expos.

MLS commissioner eyes possible New York franchise for 2013
Second Big Apple club could be the league's 20th
MLS commissioner Don Garber said Friday that the league has no intentions of slowing down following a 2012 expansion to Montreal, and that a second New York franchise could be in line for 2013.
Garber told the Associated Press that the league has aspirations of soon fielding a 20th franchise to follow Montreal, which was officially announced on Friday as the league’s third Canadian club and 19th franchise overall.
"Our attention is very focused on a 20th team as we speak. We'd like that team to be in New York City representing a second team in the tri-state area," Garber told the AP. "The Red Bulls are very supportive of that and believe that rivalry will help grow the popularity of the sport in the New York metropolitan area. So we're going to work hard and try to get something done perhaps as early as 2013."

Red Bulls shock Juventus 3-1 in RBA friendly
New York pummels Italian powerhouse with inspired performance. On paper, the friendly might seem like a meaningless fixture in a cluttered schedule for New York. But Sunday afternoon’s 3-1 victory over Juventus may have meant the world to the home side.
Losers of three straight in league play, the match against this storied team was an opportunity for the Red Bulls to get the bad taste of their recent string of results out of their mouth. But the fact that New York held their own, knocked the ball around and created chances was as encouraging as the victory.
It was an entertaining end-to-end affair. Greg Sutton was busy in goal, making five saves. The Red Bulls fielded mainly reserves, their starters in the friendly combining for just 17 starts in league play this season.

Read that the white kit the stripes are rippling to resemble water which is very cool. Also the subliminal pattern is actually the crest. I guess the better the views of the jerseys I see the more I like them.EPJr wrote:you can't see it on that pix but the navy shirt has a tone on tone argyle patterndgreco wrote:
