Former Celtic great Dennis Johnson, who helped Boston to two NBA titles, has been elected to the Naismith Hall of Fame, according to a source close to the Hall. The announcement will come Monday at 11 a.m. from Indianapolis and Johnson will be amongst those tabbed.
Johnson, who passed away in February 2007, played 14 seasons in the NBA, four with the Seattle SuperSonics, three with the Phoenix Suns and the final seven with the Celtics. He was the team's point guard and floor leader during the glory years. Johnson played in five All-Star Games, was the 1978-79 NBA Finals MVP and a seven-time first-team All NBA defensive selection.
Johnson had been passed up for years but support soared for his election following his sudden death at age 52 from a heart attack. Johnson had his number 3 retired by the Celtics and was considered one of the top guards of his era.

I liked him for no other reason than he beat the Lakers. A lot.

Too bad it's a posthumous award.

Not to speak bad of the dead, but I'm not sure he was worthy of this particular honor. There are other Celtics who are more worthy. Heck, as far as NBA players in general, I'd pick Rambis or Webb over Johnson. But that's just crazy SH.

That you would pick Spud Webb over Dennis Johnson for the Basketball HOF shoots the last ounce of credibility you had...

Congrats to the young guard that took it to the Bullets in one of the great all-time NBA Finals
Still hate the Celtics, but respect the player.

I just did a quick check on Spud Webbs stats, and I was correct. His best years were in the Sacred City.

I was curious as to why SH would throw out a gimmicky player like Webb as far as HOF considerations.
It had to be _______.
A.) Went to UOP
B.) Played for the Kings
C.) Owned a womens professional football team.
D.) Was an outspoken Feminist.
E.) Pee in the butt.
