I'm sure he'll be pumped for the Eagles games. He's a great regular season QB. In fact, he's a great playoff QB through the divisional round if you can keep him healthy.

I'm suprised that they traded him to an in conference rival. The Eagles are going to look pretty stupid if McNabb and the Skins beat them next year and make the playoffs.
I think the Eagles misplayed tihs situation and put themselves into a position where they had to trade McNabb, as a result, they ended up trading him to a team that they will see twice next year. McNabb may also be the piece the Redskins needed to make the playoffs.
The Eagles may have been better off trading McNabb elsewhere, even if it meant lower picks.

Philly is about to learn a hard lesson. "You don't know what you got 'till it's gone."

Couple of thoughts:
Glad they finally pulled the trigger, the talk was getting really old.
Can't believe they traded him in the division.
A number of guys were right they'd trade him today or tomorrow to try to stay on the front page as long as they could since Philly has become a baseball town. The jealousy of the Phillies is just odd.
Expect to see Kolb with a new deal before the draft.

What we had with McNabb was no shot at winning a Superbowl. I don't mind seeing that gone.

Not at all. Philly knows NcNabb, he's an above average QB who typically didn't have the weapons around him that many other QB's have had. He also can be inconsistent at times, and probably isn't the best QB for the West Coast offense that Ried likes to run.
The Eagles aren't likely to win the SB this year no matter who the QB is, so they might as well trade McNabb while he has some value. McNabb is in the last year of his contract, so the Eagles would either have to resign him to a longer deal or let him walk for nothing at the end of the year.

I'm glad they got rid of Sheldon... but didn't like that Gocong went with him.

I think we know what we had, and I think the skins will find out in week 1 or week 2 when their weak offensive line lets someone through to blindside McNabb... the guy is injury prone and was working with one of the best O-lines in the NFL, now he's with one of the worst. Good luck McNabb! I wish the guy the best, just not vs the Eagles.

I'm not entirely sure what to think of this.... this could shake out a number of ways, for the immediate future of the franchise as well as the long-term (latter being the most likely significance IMO)
On the one hand, he at least makes the Skins better. Not like that required much to do though. He is a proven QB, certainly a very good QB, but not great. And more often than not he has been a thorn in the Redskins side. It will be nice to have a QB leader in the clubhouse (sorry, but Campbell is too nice of a guy to be a true leader), and assuming they keep Campbell, it will be nice to have some solid competition at the position.
On the other hand...he's almost 34 (right?) and is most likely on the downside of his career. Yes, there are a few QBs that have played very well in their late 30s (Favre, Warner, etc.), but there have been more examples of QBs at that advanced age who just proved they were washed up. Also, we give up a 2nd round draft pick this year, which I think they could have really used on an OL. They still have the 4th overall pick though, and grabbing McNabb pretty much all but eliminates the idea that they might use that pick on a QB (Claussen or Bradford), but instead on an OL (Yes, they need two solid young OLs).
It’s obvious now that the Skins and Shanahan are really doing what they can to win now. McNabb can help them do that, along with a potential three-headed monster in Portis/Johnson/Parker in the backfield and Shanahan coaching. I expect one of the RBs to be gone before the season starts though, hopefully Portis (although financially that might not be possible), and the other two on are relatively cheap one-year contracts, ie. expendable.
But I also think that while they are playing to win now, the Skins/Shanahan are also doing what they can to build a strong team for the future. So do they trade Campbell (to Buffalo in exchange for a 2nd round draft pick), and use their fourth overall pick on a QB who will essentially ride the bench behind McNabb for a couple years while he learns the system? Very possible as well.

It will be interesting to see how the Eagles and Redskins fare in the two-minute offense this year. McNabb has never been good at it, but that might partially have been Andy Reid's fault (getting plays in to the offense has always been a problem with Reid and the Eagles). If Kolb can run a good two-minute offense and the Redskins suck at it, or vice versa, we'll know where to place the blame.

The Redskins have pretty much sucked at the two-minute offense for years now, so it won't be anything new if they suck again this year We'll just have blame it on their tight constricting (no homo) uniforms or something.

That is why this is a great trade for McNabb, if he plays like he did in Philly (good, but not great) he'll still be a huge improvement for the Redskins.

Isn't it amazing that yesterday was Opening Day for MLB, and the National Championship is tonight, and the biggest sports story is an above-average, good-but-not-great QB getting traded 4 months before the start of the season? The NFL is king, and every other sports is vying for scraps. And, the truth is, football season can't get here soon enough.

Very true....the top stories might have changed in the past few hours, but first thing this morning the top story on espn, cnnsi and cbssports was McNabb.

The funny thing is, I think the Eagles timed the announcement of this trade to coincide with the Phillies opener in the hopes that the Phillies would take the spot light, and the heat off of themselves (at least at the local level).

They may have, but that's a lot of hope considering how boring the first half of the baseball season is..they have 162 (at least) games to go.
They should have just shown clips of the 76ers at the press conference--that would have made the Eagles look better.

At least he'll still get to play air guitar at Cowboys Stadium every year. kinda strange to trade him to a division rival though.

I thought I saw some blurb about a Woods kid playing at Augusta this week.
