Yahoo! is reporting that former Bulls coach Doug Collins is leaving the TV booth to return to coaching. He has apparently signed with the Sixers.
This is an interesting move for an otherwise boring league. I wonder if he's going to try to find some Jordan and Pippin types...IF such are available.

4-year deal. Wonder if his personal (read: Duke connection) relationship with Elton Brand will help to re-energize that stiff.

Probably helps that he knows he'll get Evan Turner in the draft. The Sixers aren't a great team, but they're starting to get some decent young guys to at least make it entertaining, which the Sixers haven't been for a long time.

Exactly. The NBA is an afterthought most places, and nowhere more than in Philadelphia. Hell, the Sixers didn't sell out when they had Doctor J or Charles Barkley. File this under "who gives a rat's ass".
The NBA in Philly is akin to the NFL in the South. The college game is where it's at.

Illinois State University's Doug Collins
First overall pick by the 76'ers.
Member of '72 olympic team, perhaps the biggest screw job ever in the history of sports
Wonder if son Chris will leave Duke to join daddies staff, or if he's content to sit at Duke and wait on coach K to retire?
