OK Philly Fans, I'm willing to make wagers in this series for hats or shirts of your choice...My choice would be of the college football team you all follow, but so we are clear, its a straight up series bet if anyone is interested...I did this for the White Sox in '05 and got myself a swanky Sam Houston St hat (which I lost in t he fire

)
Or if anyone has any different idea, I'm listening, but I'd like to keep it under the $25 range please

OK, Matt, you're on! How about a Harvard hat for an ISU hat?
But be warned: these days, ISU has a far better reputation!

Flyers in 6. Hats are boring, you have 2 of the best food towns in country, cheesesteaks, hoagies, soft pretzels, water ice, etc vs pizza, hot dogs, italian beef & ribs.
Plus Philly has better parades. Fewer, but better.

OK Im game for the food battle, pick your poison...Ill choose soft pretzels over here and Hawks win this series...I dont think Philly can match Chicago's depth and Chicago is BY FAR the best team Philly has seen in the playoffs...
After this series, the Flyers will be haunted by the Patrick Sharp for Matt Ellison trade!!
Ivy- you are on!!!

With the number of Phila fans on this site, Matt is really going feast or famine on the wager. Gotta admire the cojones (not that I go around checking out cojones or anything).

Yes you can pick the hat!!
As for my cojones, I believe in these Hawks, been a diehard fan since the early 80's, and in my college years, the team was AWFUL!!!! Its nothing against Philly, we destroyed Vancouver, swept San Jose, Philly is rolling, but me thinks the Hawks are the better team, no offense!

Every team the Flyers faced so far was the "better team" at the start of the series, yet they took them. I agree the Hawks are the best they've faced yet. If I was a betting man, I'd go with Hawks in five or six, because I'm not an emotional bettor. What I'm seeing with the Flyers in these playoffs though defies logic.

If the number of Broadstreet Bulllies fans gets a little too high for Matt to cover all of the bets, I can help pick up the slack. Of course it will be a sweet purple hat with a cat on it rather than a red one with a bird that I'm wagering with.
An no 93, you can't check out my cojones!

So will you be at Harrington when the table games open?

They're already open 2 - 10 pm. They opened Harrington under low-limit betting this week. It's a sort of trial week to break in their new dealers, stickmen, etc and see how well their surveillance works.

I'll swing by and check it out, kind of like I went to the parlay sports book at Dover once to check it out.

Weak, but I don't get many e-mails about the Flyers...
"Our father, who art in the Wachovia Center , Hockey be thy name.
Thy will be done. The cup will be won, on Ice, as well as in the Stands of Heaven.
Give us this day our Hockey sticks. And forgive us our penalties, as we forgive
those Heathen Black Hawks, that cross-check against us.
Lead us not into elimination, but... deliver us to victory.
In the name of the Fans, Lord Stanley, and of the Holy Spirit of the Broad Street Bullies.
Amen."

Nice, 89!
I dunno who came up with the "History Will Be Made" add campaign for the playoffs, but they should immediately be hired to replace Bettman. I haven't seen one commercial that's sucked...and the Flyers-related ones (What if Ian didn't believe in sacrifice? What if Broad Street didn't fight back? What if Richie didn't play like Clarkie?) have been phenomenal.

I have a very special attachment to the Flyers. We were born the same year and 1971 was my first year playing hockey as a mite. The back to back Cups were right in my heyday as a kid playing hockey in the shadow of Philly. We used to get to play in the Spectrum a couple times a year against the Little Flyers (they sucked) and would see some of the Broad Street Bullies around the locker rooms every time we went. Ed Van Impe's son played for one of our rival teams. Friends of my parents lived on Wayne Stephenson's street in Cherry Hill and I got to play street hockey with him once. My father and I both worked at Brandywine Racetrack at night where Gene Hart spent his summers in the 80's announcing horse races. I got to meet him several times. The GM of the track had Flyers season tix and had a son my age, so I used to get to go to a lot of games as a kid and sit right next to the players bench. My notebooks were always adorned with badly drawn Flyers logos. I would wear holes in my Flyers sweatshirts because I never took them off. My wood project in 7th grade was a Flyers logo. The only team that is more dear to me are the Blue Hens, and it's not by much. All I can say is LET'S GO FLYERS!

My head says Blackhawks in 6, but my heart is obviously with the Flyers. Every game will be close, and the Flyers definitely have a good shot. This series will be much closer than regular season records might indicate.
No matter who wins, the Blackhawks have the best uni's in all of sports.

You gotta love an orange hoodie with slacks and dress shoes.
